Day 1 Tianjin Cruise Terminal - Beijing
Our clients on the Mutianyu Great Wall
This morning, you will follow the instructions of the cruise company and disembark the cruise ship on your own. To gain more time for visiting, we suggest you get prepared in advance and disembark as early as possible. Our guide will arrive one day ahead and waiting for you at the Gateway 3 of the Cruise Terminal in the early morning according to your cruise ship schedule. The guide will hold a banner with your name on and you should not miss him or her at the exit.

Tianjin International Cruise Port is 180kms away from Beijing, after we meet you at the port, we will transfer you to start your Beijing tours from cruise terminal by visiting Mutianyu Great Wall directly. The transfer time is about 3.5 hours and we will provide you a nice quality vehicle to assure a comfortable private drive. Lunch is not included in the package, but your guide will be glad to offer some suggestions for the restaurants near the Great Wall.

Mutianyu is one of the most popular parts of the great walls. It is less-crowded than the Badaling section, but equally spectacular and has superb views. We have included the round-way cable car for you to avoid the steep steps, and allow more time on the top for you to enjoy the easy walks through the watchtowers. After that, we will have a 2 hours' transfer to downtown Beijing and check in the hotel for a good rest.

In the morning, enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and then proceed with our history and culture excursion in this capital city. We will firstly stop at Tiananmen Square for about 30 minutes to see the buildings around. After that, walk to enter the Forbidden City and spend about 2 hours to appreciate this miracle complex. As the royal palace for more than 500 years in the Ming and Qing dynasties, you should not miss this world famous cultural heritage. The Forbidden City covering an area of 150 thousand square meters has more than 70 palaces and 9000 houses. Follow your guide and you will learn how royal life looks like in the old times.

At noon, your guide may suggest a good restaurant for you to taste the real Chinese food. Then we drive you back to Tianjin International Cruise Port before 17:00. If you need to arrive earlier or later, please let us know and we will adjust the schedule as per your needs.

For clients who prefer to save a bit and do not mind the public transfer means for the return journey, you can also take express train from Beijing to Tianjin for about 35 minutes, then take a taxi to the port by yourself. The taxi ride may take you about 1.5 hours and cost around CNY250 per cab. For this option, we will transfer you to Beijing train station instead and your guide will help you purchase the train tickets of Beijing to Tianjin. As I know, most of the halal restaurants are located in the Dongcheng District. For example, Tongshuncheng Restaurant is at No.18 Guangning Road, Hedong District.
Youyishun Restaurant, No. 7 Longtan Road, Hedong District.

Not sure when or where to apply and if eligible for the 144 free transit visa?
Do we need to apply for 2 seperate visas if so when and where do we apply?
We have been told we are eligible but not sure how or where to apply.
Both of us are Australian passport holders, flying from Australia to Beijing staying 1 night in hotel next day sailing out of Beijing at (Tianjin Shipping Cruise Port) on a cruise ship around Japan for 7 nights then re entering at the Cruise Shipping Port back to Beijing. My question is (is it allowable to then apply for second visa in such a close time to the first one) back into Beijing staying 1 night in hotel next day flying out of Beijing to Australia. We have documents for flight, hotel, cruise ship, and return flight.
We just need clarification on when and where to apply and make sure that we are eligible.
Many thanks for your help and advice very much appreciated. 😀

You are eligible and, please, just use exact terminology because you will apply for 144 hours visa free transit and not for "transit visa". This is quite a difference, so just use visa free terminology to avoid any possible misunderstandings.

You will apply for 144 hours visa free transit for the first time at Beijing airport upon your arrival from Australia. You will approach the relevant counter, fill out the form and show your documentation to the authorities. After that, your passports will be stamped and you allowed to leave the airport.

After that you will depart from Tianjin out of Beijing area for a cruise and apply for 144 hours visa free transit for the second time at the end of your cruise, upon your arrival at cruise terminal in Tianjin. The procedure will be the same as in Beijing airport. Just one overnight and you will depart for Australia. Just have your documentation with you and be perfectly relaxed and again, use exact terminology :)).

Actually, you will travel travel through China visa free, so there are no visas for you. It is important that you use exact terminology, so 144 hours visa free.

It is good that you have prepared all the necessary documents and they have to be in hard copy.

Your first application for 144 hours visa free transit will be upon your landing at Beijing airport. You will apply at the relevant counter where you will fill out blue form beside the yellow form that you will fill out in the plane. After that you will hand out all the necessary documents and will get a stamp in your passport. Then you will leave the airport, explore the city and board your cruise.

Your second application will be at Tianjin Shipping Cruise Port upon your arrival from Japan. The application procedure is the same as it was at Beijing airport.

You really do not have to announce your intentions that you will travel visa free until your check-in in Australia. There you will just say that you are traveling visa free because you are eligible due to your itinerary Australia - Beijing (China) - Japan. The same thing you will say to Japanese border authorities in your last Japanese port (before your return to China) that you will travel visa free because you are eligible due to your itinerary Japan - Tianjin (China) - Australia.

As you can see, the procedure is really straightforward, although sometimes it appears, at first, as a bit complicated. Just relax and enjoy your travels.

Or shall i purchase the second class ticket at the same day.? whether seat available normally?
Also if there is no seat is available for Second class, is there possible to take unreserved coaches in any C trains ?

Yes, you are suggested to book the train ticket in advance. If you purchase the train ticket when you arriving there, it's hard to say whether if there are enough ticket.
As I know, TravelChinaGuide.com provides train ticket booking. If interested, their contact information is bookingtravelchinaguide.com.
