Xian Night Tour

Vendor selling Osmanthus Persimmon Cakes in Muslim Street
Route: Food Street in Muslim Quarter - North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda - Great Tang All Day Mall

Xian is famed for its long history and profound culture heritage, but when it lights up for the evening, you can find another face of the city. This independent tour leads you to experience the vibrancy of Xian's nightlife.

Making an evening out in Xian, Muslim Quarter should be the first choice. It is the hub of Muslim community, located in the city center, nearby the Bell Tower. If you take Metro Line 2, you could get off at Zhonglou (Bell Tower) Station, Exit B. Walk towards west for around 6 minutes and you can see the Drum Tower. The Muslim food street is behind the Tower. This street is paved with dark colored stone with green trees alongside. The buildings of both sides are modeled on the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911).

There are so many places to eat, sights to see, things to try, and souvenirs to buy. As night falls, this place gets crowded with throngs of people, but it is fully filled with vitality. Here you can find authentic Muslim hand-made food and also famous snacks of Shaanxi Province, such as Crumbled Unleavened Bread in Mutton Stew (Yangrou Paomo), Shaanxi Meat Sandwich (Rou Jia Mo), cold noodles and fruit pies made with persimmon, etc. You can also go to visit the Great Mosque and the ancient Gao's Grand Courtyard in this area. It is recommended to keep a close eye on your belongings when you traveling through the crowd place.
Once your appetite has been satisfied you may wish to find a place to relax. The North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda has the largest musical fountain in Asia. The massive fountain show is designed perfectly by combing music, lights, water and colors. When the music starts, with the lit up Pagoda as the background, the colorful water sprays fly in the air like thousands of sparkling fairies, which does make an expression. This show is free for the public, and hereunder is the show time of the Musical Fountain.

North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda
Subway Line 3 could take you to the North Square, by alighting at Dayanta Station (Big Wild Goose Pagoda) and getting out from Exit B or C.

If you are not tired, you could continue to the nearby Great Tang All Day Mall. Walk southward from the North Square and go through the South Square, you will arrive at the sight. It is where modern classic meets historical charm. There is a large statuary landscape avenue with a wide median strip, where nine groups of theme statuaries with modernized waterscape system and light system tell the story of Tang Dynasty (618-907). On the sides of the avenue are huge modern malls, Xian Concert Hall, Xian Grand Theater, Shaanxi Artists Gallery, etc, all of which were built in the style of Tang Dynasty. At night, the lighting in this area is marvelous.

After that, take a taxi back to your hotel. The metro and most of buses are stopped at 23:00, so taxi is the most convenient way at night.
