How to Travel Between Changsha and Wuhan

Wuhan is about 330 km (205 mi) from Changsha. There are two transportation means between these two cities: high speed train and normal speed train. The highly-recommended way is by high speed train. The cheapest high speed train ticket costs only CNY164-179 and you can arrive in the destination in 1.5 to 2 hours. Although the normal speed train is slower than the high speed train, some visitors still take it because the ticket price is quite low, and the cheapest ticket costs only CNY 54 for a hard seat. Due to the short distance, there are currently no direct flights between Changsha and Wuhan. If by transfer, you need to stopover in other cities for at least 1.5 hours; also considering the higher ticket price, such transportation way is not recommended. At present, the long-distance buses are not operated, either. 

There are about 90 high speed trains from Changsha South Railway Station to Wuhan Railway Station/ Hankou Railway Station during 07:10 to 21:19. The departure interval is as short as 5 minutes and 45 minutes at most. The whole journey takes about 1.5-2 hours.

If you need to travel from Changsha to Wuhan in late night, then normal speed train may be the only public transportation means. Changsha Railway Station has more than 40 trains to Wuhan all day, even at night. It takes about 3.5 to 5.5 hours.

There are about 90 high speed trains at the Wuhan Railway Station taking visitors to Changsha South Railway Station. The earliest one sets off at 07:06 and the latest one at 21:19. Only 7 high speed trains departure from Hankou Railway Station. The earliest one is at 08:58 while the latest is at 17:04.

More than 40 normal speed trains depart from Wuchang Railway Station to Changsha South Railway Station throughout the day. The earliest train sets off at 00:45 and the latest at 23:55.

→ Take a high speed train from Changsha South Railway Station to Wuhan Railway Station;
→ Take metro line 4 to Shouyi Road, taking about 50 minutes and CNY5;
→ get out from Exit D3, then walk north for about 1,000 meters (1,100 yards).
