What to Wear in Harbin in December

If you are staying in the hotel, a thin sweater plus a pair of long jeans are enough, and you can even wear a long-sleeved T-shirt plus a pair of thin warm pants. If you venture outside, a thick sweater, a thick cotton-padded jacket or a thick long down jacket, fleece pants, snow boots, mask, hat, gloves and scarf are necessary.

Things to Do in Harbin in December

Although the temperature is low, the outdoor activities like skiing are attractive and wonderful. You can go to the Erlongshan Ski Resort, which is 65 km (40 mi) from Harbin downtown and can hold 4,000 to 5,000 skiers at the same time. The resort has two primary ski areas, one children ski area, eight tracks for different levels of skiers and one track for snowboarding. There tourists can experience snowmobile driving, ice slides, sleighing and so on.

The Pingshan Shenlu Ski Resort is also a nice option, which is 70 km (43 mi) from the downtown area and capable of holding 3,000 skiers at the same time. It has seven different grades of tracks and one skating rink. Because it is connected to the deer farm, so you can see deer when skiing.

Your hands and ears are vulnerable to frostbite because of extreme cold climate in Harbin in December, so you’d better take chilblain cream. The big temperature difference between indoor and outdoor can easily cause a cold; therefore, cold medicines are requisite, as well as medicine for gastroenteritis.
