Panjin Red Beach

Panjin Red Beach, also called Panjin Honghaitan Scenic Area, is located in China’s Bohai Bay, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) away from Panjin City, Liaoning Province. This scenic area got its name because it is covered by a large area of red seepweeds, which paint the land totally red from around April to October every year. Panjin Red Beach is actually a wetland, covered not only by seepweeds but also by reeds and paddy rice fields. In addition, it’s a habitat of lots of water birds, so it’s a wonderful place of interest for visitors to enjoy natural beauty.
 

Best Time to Visit Panjin Red Beach China

The best time to visit Panjin Red Beach is from middle September to middle October. In April, seepweeds grows out and its leaves are soft red at the beginning. As time passes, the color gradually gets darker and darker till bright red in autumn. When it turns cold after middle October, the color of these grasses varies from red to purple.

Panjin Red Beach runs for 18 kilometers (11 miles). Inside the scenic area, there are sightseeing buses running between various scenic spots.
 

Appreciate Red Beaches

It’s recommended to visit Red Beaches in the morning. In afternoons, visitors’ can only take backlit photos. There are two ways to appreciate its beauty: one is walking along the wooden plank road, which was built above seepweeds fields and extends far; taking a boat traveling through the red fields is another brilliant and romantic travel way. The best viewing sites are those scenic areas, like Yishui Yunzhou and Langqiao Aimeng. 
 
In addition, Red Beach Wharf is worth paying a visit. Despite beautiful red seepweeds, visitors could watch a large scale of rice fields around. Either green in spring and summer or golden in autumn, the rice fields are like an oil painting under the blue sky and white clouds. 
 

Watch Water Birds

Thanks to the spectacular geological land form, Panjin Red Beach is home to many wild water birds. There are more than 100 thousand birds of nearly 260 species living there. Get close to places where reed grows in a large scale, it is easy to watch how birds play or live. Tourists are recommended to avoid winter time for sightseeing for most birds fly to the warm south to escape the cold.
 

How to Get to Panjin Red Beach

There is the special bus line from Panjing Railway Station to the Red Beach directly in the tourist season, normally from Spetember to the middle of October which departs at 9:00 and 9:30 am and returns at 16:00. A single trip costs CNY 20 and takes 1.5 hours.

Inside the scenic area, there are cars and electric bicycles for rental in the tourist season and the price is flexible.

Free entrance for other time and CNY 45 for the sightseeing bus and train
