Pingshan District is located in the northeast of Shenzhen City and close to Dapeng Peninsula on the south, Yantian Port on the west and Longgang District on the north. Pingshan River, one of the five main rivers in Shenzhen, runs through the whole area. Pingshan District is the main settlement of Hakkas in Shenzhen and Dawanwei Village preserves its unique fortress style square Hakka buildings. The Mountain Maluan is a famous natural scenic spot for the largest natural waterfall group in Shenzhen.

 Dawan Ancestral Residence
Located in Dawanwei Village, Dawan Ancestral Residence was the place where the family of Zeng lived and worked. Dawangshiju covers an area of 15,000 square meters (161,459 square feet) and is embraced by high walls with turrets at the four corners. The gate of Wanshi Habitat faces south and four characters of “Da Wan Shi Ju” are inscribed. Folk houses, Diaolous, wells, temples, wooden plaques and various cultural relics are preserved inside the habitat.

 Mountain Maluan
Most of the peaks in the park are below 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level and it is a good place for hiking and camping with moderate slopes and beautiful scenery. It only takes about 30 minutes to drive from downtown Shenzhen. Violet waterfalls, dynamic waterfall drops and bubbling streams are major features of the country park, presenting a stunning landscape which is hard to be found in other places. Besides, sea views can be enjoyed in the park. In winter, from December to February, ten thousands of plum trees are bloomy. The mountains look like snow-capped.

 Jingui Village
With beautiful natural scenery, Jingui Village, known as the most beautiful rural camping park in Shenzhen, is a top place to camp. There are art cafes, creative murals, all kinds of fun DIYs, unique inns presented by tents, containers, and wooden houses. You can pick vegetables at a vegetable base nearby as well. On a clear summer night, it is possible to see the remarkable star sky.

Best Time to Visit Pingshan District

The best time to visit Pingshan District Shenzhen is in winter and spring, from December to April. In Maman Mountain Country Park, numerous plum trees are blooming during the winter time of Pingshan District. It is very enjoyable to appreciate waterfalls and hike in the mountains in spring, from March to May, because the weather is not very cold with an average temperature of 18℃ (64℉). Pingshan District is hot and rainy and often hit by typhoons from June to August. The temperature can be as high as 36℃ (97℉) of the year. The weather is dry and mild in other seasons.

Transportation

To get to Pingshan District Shenzhen, visitors can take a flight to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and then take bus E21 to Pingshan District Shenzhen. It is very convenient to access to Pingshan by bullet train. Take bus E22 and then transfer to bus 963 at Liulian Hotel Stop from Shenzhen North Railway Station. Or take Zhongludongbu Express Bus Line and transfer to M325 at Pingshan Construction Bank Stop from Shenzhen Railway Station.

Shenzhen Metro Lines 12 and 14, buses and taxis are major inner transportation methods. Visitors can take bus M165 and get off at Nanlian Station Stop and then take Metro Line 3 to Shenzhen downtown area. It charges CNY 200-220 to Bao’an Airport, CNY 120-130 to Shenzhen North Railway Station and CNY130-140 to Shenzhen Railway Station.
