How to Travel between Haikou and Sanya

Haikou to Sanya distance is as long as 300 kilometers (187 miles). Although having available airports, there is no direct flight route between them currently due to the close distance. So the best travel way is to take high speed train for 1.5 – 2 hours at the price of CNY 100 – 108 for second class seat. Normal speed train will take 3 – 3.5 hours and CNY 79.5 for hard seat. Haikou – Sanya long-distance bus also serve, taking 2.5 – 5 hours and CNY 50 – 72 for a single trip.

How to Travel from Haikou to Sanya

1. Best Way: High Speed Train: 1.5 – 2 hours, CNY 100 – 108 for second class seat

There are around 50 Haikou to Sanya high speed trains running from Haikou Railway Station and Haikou East Railway Station to Sanya Railway Station and Sanya Hainan Railway Station from 06:40 to 22:14. It costs CNY 100 – 128 for second class seat and CNY 136 – 156 for first class seat.

2. Alternative Normal Speed Train: 3.5 hours, CNY 79.5 for hard seat

2 normal speed trains depart from Haikou Railway Station at 04:50 and 16:30 to Sanya Railway Station at 08:12 and 20:00. The overall duration is about 3.5 hours and the ticket price is CNY 79.5 for hard seat, CNY 155.5 for hard sleeper and CNY 269.5 for soft sleeper.

Are there bus companies in Wenchang offering coach services from Wenchang city to Sanya city centre hotel ? We are a group of 14 pax ?

Yes, there are. Generally the fare would be about CNY 1000 per day.

The Free visa is avalable if take a tour and not for individial indpendent travel??

Yes, the immigration regulations say so. But the recent feedbacks say they also get the 30-day visa free access without registering with a local travel agency.
