Dalian Metro Line 1

Running north–south, Dalian Metro Line 1 is about 28.3 km (17.6 mi) long and links Yaojia and Hekou via 22 stations, including Xinghai Suqare, Xi'an Road, Dalian North Railway Station, Huanan Square and Convention & Exhibition Center. A full trip takes about 50 minutes. Under the current plan, Phase 3 of Line 1 will extend about 14.5 km (9 mi) from Yaojia to New Airport with 4 stations.

 Who should get off here: First-time visitors to Dalian, photography lovers, families with kids, and anyone who came to see the sea. 

This is the most tourist-critical stop on Line 1. Step out of the station and you'll see Xinghai Square (Exit A1/A2/C), the largest city square in Asia featuring a vast ocean-facing plaza with the Century City Sculpture, the shell-shaped Dalian Museum, and unobstructed views of the Xinghai Bay Bridge and the open Yellow Sea.

 Exit A2 → Xinghai Bay Bridge viewing deck, the best spot for photos of Dalian's most photogenic bridge
 Exit A2 → Seaside boardwalk, runs north toward Heishijiao and south toward the Xinghai Bay cruise terminal
 Exit A1 → Dalian Natural History Museum (15-min walk north along the coast)
 This is the largest station on Line 1 and the most important integrated transport hub in northern Dalian. The station has established a rail-to-metro passenger flow linkage mechanism. It opens extra security lanes whenever a big wave of high-speed rail passengers arrives. This means travelers spend less time waiting in line and get to the metro much faster, about 30% quicker than usual.

 Exit C → China Railway Dalian North Station with high-speed trains to Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin, and beyond

 Who should get off here: Shoppers, foodies, and anyone transferring to Line 2 for the coastal eastern districts. 

Xi'an Road Station is the commercial heart of Dalian's metro system. When you walk out of the station, you're already in a bustling commercial area. The exits drop you right into a connected shopping zone:
 Exit C / Exit 1 → Roosevelt Plaza & McCallum Department Store for mid-range to upscale fashion, international restaurants, a cinema, and a food court.
 Exit B1 → Jinhui Shopping Plaza for youth-oriented fashion, electronics, gaming arcades, bubble tea shops, and affordable street-food stalls.
 Exit B2 → Roosevelt north side for home decor stores, a supermarket, and a fitness center.
 Exit D → Liberation Square area for local bakeries, convenience stores, and budget eateries.
 Exit A → Science & Technology Plaza for laptop repairs, phone accessories, and gadget shops.
 Who should get off here: Families with kids, marine-life enthusiasts, and travelers looking for a quieter seaside walk away from the Xinghai Suqare crowds.

Heishijiao sits at the northern end of the Xinghai coastal belt, directly adjacent to the Dalian Natural History Museum and a dramatic rocky shoreline where black reefs meet the sea.

 Exit B → Chenxi Plaza Shopping Center
 Who should get off here: Business travelers attending trade fairs, conference participants, and anyone heading to Dalian's main exhibition venue.

The station sits on Zhongshan Road, near the Dalian World Expo Center and the surrounding financial district, making it convenient for accessing the city’s core convention and business areas.
