Datong Weather in July

Season: high summer

Heat extends for a short period within a day.

Average temperature: 15 - 29℃ (59 - 84℉)

July’s the hottest month of a year. On sunny days, the high temperature often exceeds 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). However, it only lasts for several hours around the noon, and the shade with continuous cool breeze serves as a good place to escape from the heat. With good sun protection measures, people will not even sweat, let alone experience heatstroke.

In the early morning and evening, the temperature remains 24 - 29℃ (75.2 - 84.2℉), approximately equivalent to the high temperature on rainy days, when you feel pleasantly cool. Air conditioning is rarely used this time.

Showers visit frequently.

It’s also the rainiest month of a year, with a total rainfall of 134 mm (5.3 in). About half of the month sees some rain, but showers are common, which means that the rainfall doesn’t annoyingly last for a long period each time. So, the travel is hardly affected. Only on thunderstorm days is it not advised to visit mountainous attractions for security reasons. What’s more, the high temperature often drops to a cool value after rain. The weather forecast cannot always accurately predict the weather conditions of Datong in July, so don’t be afraid to see consecutive rainy days when checking in advance.

The air humidity reaches the top of the year, 66% on average. Although it’s not low, people hardly feel sticky due to the blowing light winds.

Sufficient daytime & Rich sunshine

The daylight length is over 14 hours from the sunrise at 5:01 - 5:23 to the sunset at 19:41 - 19:59, offering enough time for tourists to travel around.
