Huashan Mountain Cable Car

There are two cable car lines in Huashan Mountain, respectively connecting different lower stations in mountain valleys to the mount’s lowest North Peak and higher West Peak. Lower Station of Huashan West Peak Cable Car

 Length: 4,211 meters (4,605 yards)
 Vertical drop: 894 meters (2,930 feet)
 Route: Lower Station at Wengyu Valley - Upper Station on West Peak
 Single-way duration: about 20 minutes.
 You can take a tourist bus from Huashan Tourist Center at the mountain foot to the Lower Station of Huashan West Peak Cable Car. The bus ride takes about 40 minutes.

Huashan West Peak Cable Car

The moment the West Peak Cable Car leaves the station, you will gain a thrilling experience in the fast-moving gondola. Through its glass panels, a 360-degree view of the precipitous ridges of Huashan Mountain can be gained, and the scenery you see along the Huashan West Cableway is much more gorgeous than that along the North one.

After getting out from the upward West Peak Cable Car, you can reach the summit of the highest South Peak of Mt. Huashan in less than 1 hour, while the climb from the upper station of the North one to the South Peak Summit takes you about 3 hours.

Lucky ones can gain an even more exciting experience in a few gondolas with a transparent floor panel, through which they’ll see the vegetation-covered mountain ranges unrolling. Delicate peach blossoms, verdant trees, flaming foliage, and snowscapes in four seasons can be viewed from a unique perspective.

 The only way is to take a tourist bus, and the drive takes you about 20 minutes from Huashan Tourist Center to the Lower Station of North Peak Cable Car.
 By the North Peak Cableway, you can save 4 - 6 hours to get to North Peak compared with those hiking up from the Jade Spring Temple at the mountain foot.

Compared with the West Peak Cableway, the North one has a less steep inclination, which means that it’s more friendly to people with acrophobia. Besides, with a lower price for a single or round way than that of the West one, the North Peak Cable Car becomes an economical choice for tourists.

Take Huashan Mountain Cable Car

 Route: West Peak Cable Car → West Peak → South Peak → East Peak → Middle Peak →North Peak → North Peak Cable Car.
 Duration: 5 - 7 hours.
 Highlights: sightseeing on all the five peaks of Mt. Huashan, and relatively less strenuous trekking.
 Suitable for: people preferring to visit each main peak of Huashan Mountain, and those with great physical strength.
  Route: North Peak Cable Car → North Peak → Middle Peak → East Peak → South Peak → West Peak → West Peak Cable Car.
 Duration: 6 - 8 hours.
 Highlights: sightseeing on all the five peaks of Mt. Huashan, and trekking on Black Dragon Ridge, one of six dangerous passes on the Huashan Mountain.
 Suitable for: people preferring to visit the main peaks one by one, brave the dangerous pass, and have greater physical fitness.
  Route: West Peak Cable Car → West Peak → South Peak → West Peak → West Peak Cable Car.
 Duration: 3 - 5 hours.
 Highlights: scenery along the cableway, and sightseeing on the South Peak Summit.
 Suitable for: people who want to save energy and time to the greatest extent and are OK with relatively high travel expenses, especially seniors and children in family tours.
  Route: Jade Spring Temple → Main Peak Area → West Peak Cable Car.
 Duration: 12 - 15 hours.
 Highlights: night climb to Huashan Mountain Peaks, dangerous passes, and sunrise at East Peak.
 Suitable for: people who want to experience challenging night climbing, view the sunrise on the Huashan Mountain, and save energy on the return journey.
 1. Bad weather conditions such as strong wind or torrential rain can cause temporary suspension or slow operation of cable cars. So, it’s necessary to check Mount Huashan weather in advance.

2. In light of a relatively large temperature variation between lower and upper stations, please add clothes in time to keep warm.

3. In peak season, one probably queues for 1 hour to take the Huashan Mountain Cable Car, and during Chinese public holidays, the waiting time may exceed 2 hours. Thus, you are advised to arrange your itinerary properly to avoid missing the cable car.

4. Tourist buses from Huashan Tourist Center to lower stations of cable cars can only be taken by those with corresponding bus tickets, which can only be booked online in advance.   You may like:
