How to Travel from Xi’an to Huashan

1. Best Way - High Speed Train: 30-40 min, CNY 54.5 for Second Class Seat
There are about 55 high speed trains serving passengers from Xi’an to Huashan. They depart from Xi’an North Railway Station to Huashan North Railway Station from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the second class seats are the most popular.
Tourists can take Metro Line 2 or Line 4 to Xi’an North Railway Station from downtown.
After arrival at Huashan North Railway Station, one can take the free tourist bus line 1 / line 2 from the main square in front of Huashan North Station to Huashan Tourist Center in about 20 minutes. In particular, the free tourist bus departs every 25 minutes from 7:00 am - 19:00 pm. If you miss the period, you can also take a taxi to Huashan Tourist Center at about CNY 20.

2. Alternative Way - Normal Speed Train: 2 Hours, CNY 19.5 for Hard Seat
There are around 10 normal speed trains running from Xi’an Railway Station to Huashan Railway Station, which takes about 2 hours for a single journey. After arriving at Huashan Railway Station, one can spend CNY 3 to take bus line 608 to Huashan Tourist Center.
Ticket Fare: CNY 19.5 - 23.5 for hard seat; CNY 70.5 for hard sleeper and CNY 144.5 for soft sleeper.
3. Direct Tourist Bus to Mountain Foot: 2 Hours, CNY 39
How to go to Huashan from Xi’an by bus? Tourist can take Xi’an Metro Line 1 to Fangzhicheng Station. After leaving from the station, you will see Fangzhicheng Bus Station. There are regular tourist buses departing from this bus station directly to Huashan Scenic Area between 07:30 am and 19:15 pm, and they leave every one hour and a half. The bus ticket is CNY 39 per person and a single journey will take you around 2 hours.
4. Taxi / Car Rental: 1.5 - 2 Hours, CNY200 - 600
Taxis and private vans could be arranged via various agencies in Xi’an. The price of car rental varies with the standards of the car, ranging from CNY 400 - 600 for one-way rental. Generally speaking, the taxi price is lower than that of private vehicle between CNY 200 and CNY 300 for a single trip.
How to Choose
Beyond all doubt, taking a high speed train is the best and fastest way to travel from Xi’an to Huashan in terms of travel time, cost and convenience. It greatly facilitates tourists who want to take a one-day tour from Xi’an to Huashan Mountain.
If you happen to stay near the Fangzhicheng Metro Station or along metro line 1, you could choose to take a tourist bus from Xi’an to Huashan. You should be prepared for small interior spaces on the bus.
For tourists with children or the elderly, taxis and private cars would make you have a more comfortable and unworried journey from Xi’an to Huashan.
