How to Travel Between Guangzhou and Xi’an

The straight-line distance between Guangzhou and Xi’an reaches about 1,330 kilometers (825 miles). You can take a flight to fly between the two places, taking about 2.5 hours. It’s the fastest way. The high speed train is also very convenient, needing 7.5-9 hours or so on the way. The overnight normal speed trains are also available, but they take 22 hours at least.
 

Flight is the fastest and best way to go from Guangzhou to Xi’an. There are more than 20 flights available every day. They take off from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and land at Xi’an Xianyang Airport after 2.5 hours’ flying. China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Hainan Airlines, etc. run these flights. The earliest flight departs at 06:20 in the morning, and the latest one departs at 22:55 at night.

You could also catch a high speed train to travel from Guangzhou to Xi’an. There are 8 high speed trains in service daily, taking 7.5-9 hours on the way. They all depart from Guangzhou South Railway Station, and get to Xi’an North Railway Station.

There are also 7 Guangzhou to Xi’an trains running at lower speeds from Guangzhou to Xi’an. The railways connect the two cities measure 1,972-2,116 km (1,225-1,315 mi) long. From Guangzhou Railway Station to Xi’an Railway Station, these trains run for 22-28.5 hours en route. Thus you have to sleep overnight on the train.

You could find the long-distance bus to Xi’an at Guangzhou Provincial Bus Station and Guangzhou Tianhe Bus Station. There is only one bus every day at each bus station. The one from Tianhe Bus Station departs at 13:00, and the other from Provincial Bus Station departs at 13:50. You may spend CNY 660 for a single trip.
 

Relatively, there are also over 20 flights flying from Xi’an to Guangzhou, specifically from Xi’an Xianyang Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.
