 Winter clothes: For tops, a knitted sweater and a thick overcoat are recommended, and for bottoms, it’s suggested to wear long johns and jeans. In view that you may ride a bicycle to explore the city, you can further bring lightweight and warm clothing like a quick-dry long-sleeved pullover shirt, a sweatshirt, and a short windproof down jacket as tops, and quick-dry thermal underwear and windproof pants as bottoms.

Warm and comfortable shoes: You can choose thick leather boots for short-distance sightseeing, and sneakers for a ride and a long walk.

 In this month with many sunny days, a popular activity chosen by tourists is to cycle in the vast East Lake Scenic Area with beautiful lake and tree scenery. Lake paths are lined with tall dawn redwoods on both sides. If you cycle on the path, the trees with brown-red leaves under brilliant sunshine will be the most impressive view in the process.
 December is one of the best months to view birds in Wuhan, and black-headed gulls in the Tingtao Scenic Area of East Lake are the most unmissable. This area is also a good place to view the sunset. So, if you get to the attraction between 16:00 and 17:30 on a clear day, you’re very likely to admire both active flying birds and a gorgeous sunset. Moreover, as long as the weather conditions are good, you can further take the sightseeing boat in the attraction and view the birds at quite a close distance.

 In this winter month, since the weather condition is not as pleasant as those in the other seasons, and the natural scenery is not very vibrant, the city is in its slack season, featuring more economical hotel room prices and a lower number of tourists. Thus, nearly all attractions like the Yellow Crane Tower, East Lake area, Guiyuan Temple and Heptachord Terrace are in a tranquil atmosphere and can give you a fulfilling and quiet travel experience. However, it’s further noteworthy that:

In view of the mild daytime and cold nighttime, a more comfortable itinerary would better include outdoor activities between 10:00 and 16:00 with the highest temperature of the day, and contain warmer indoor places after sunset. In this new-year-welcoming period, your tour here is very likely to be crowded and cost more money. In particular, on the Jianghan Road in front of Hankow Customs House Museum, the most popular place to welcome the new year in Wuhan, there will be people everywhere.
