Wuhan Weather in February

 (1) The weather is cold for the most days in this month, and the temperature is averagely between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius (36 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit). In the daytime, the temperature is not that favorable for people to wander around attractions in the city, with the high being from 8 to 12°C (46 to 54°F) in most days. Under the influence of cold waves, the highest temperature of the city may drop to only 0°C (32°F), and the lowest temperature may be under 0°C for consecutive days. In late-February, the highest temperature can reach about 17°C, bringing some warmth to people.

(2) The precipitation is low, but rich in forms. In total, Wuhan in February receives precipitation of about 59 mm in around 10 days, which is not at a high level all year round. In this month, the city may experience drizzles and moderate rain, and rainfall more or less causes inconvenience in people’s tours. Besides, sleet and snow can come down this month, and if the temperature is no higher than 0°C (32°F), they will lead to slippery road surfaces.

(3) The city is in high humidity of about 76%. Since more than 100 lakes are located in Wuhan, the air contains much moisture and becomes unpleasantly cold in February. People travelling in such a damp environment may feel even colder.

(4) In rare cases, the city encounters extreme weather such as freezing rain, which is highly likely cause slippery road surfaces and brings much uncertainty to people’s sightseeing. The falling freezing rain droplets further damages some natural landscapes, making travel experience worse.
 The daytime of Wuhan in February expands little by little, and is about 11.5 hours in the end of the month. The sun rises at around 06:50 the earliest and the latest sunrise takes place at about 18:20. It’s worth noting that if you plan to spend time waiting for and viewing the sunset above the Yangtze River Bridge, it’s suggested to arrange your itinerary properly and get to the river bank no later than 17:30.
 Cons: Low temperature, damp air, and also extreme weather that has a probability to occur are all bad factors affecting people’s decisions on visiting Wuhan in February. Generally speaking, after learning about the weather conditions of the city this month, most people would consider rescheduling their Wuhan tours in other warmer months.

Pros: February is the low season of the city, during which there are fewer visitors and accommodation prices are accordingly lower. Besides, in this month, all the streets and attractions are specially decorated for celebrating the Chinese New Year, so you can immerse yourself into the happy and lively atmosphere.
 On Sunny Days: Thermal underwear, a sweater, and a cotton jacket are suitable tops. To stroll more comfortably, opt for thermal long johns and thick sweatpants. To keep your feet warm outdoors, thick sneakers and boots are both good choices.

On Precipitation Days: You should pay extra attention to rainproof and windproof performances of clothes. So suitable clothes comprise thermal underwear, an outdoor jacket with a fleece lining, thermal leggings, and thick outdoor pants. As for shoes, anti-slippery and waterproof sneakers are the most recommended.

Requisites: Warm accessories such as a cotton beanie, a swarf, and gloves.
 1. In February, the most unmissable views in Wuhan are delicate plum blossoms in the East Lake Scenic Area. Since the plum garden is quite large, to view as many kinds of plum blossoms as possible, you’d better spend more than 1 hour here and be sure to keep warm during the process.

2. To enjoy the tour more comfortably in this month, you can visit some indoor attractions with complete heating equipment, such as the Hubei Provincial Museum and the Wuhan Museum.

3. There are also some clear days in the month, which are suitable for visiting the must-go attraction Yellow Crane Tower to admire this magnificent building and also overlook downtown Wuhan.

4. In view that the Chinese New Year holiday is from 17 to 23, February, 2026, when tickets for various means of transportation will be in demand, so you must book your air tickets as early as possible, and be prepared for crowded attractions.
