  • Your guide will contact you through the hotel. If you are out, he/she will leave a message to the hotel reception.
  • We will send an email to you with your guide’s contact information and the pickup time.
  • If you haven't received the pick-up message before 20:00, please feel free to contact your guide or travel consultant anytime. We have your back 24 hours.
8:00 - 11:30 Visit Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City
Now let's start this Beijing day tour from the city's core area - the Tiananmen Square. Follow your guide to take a short walk on the largest city square in the world, and you can shoot distant view photos of the brilliant landmark buildings in and around the square, such as the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall.

Walking through the Gate of Heavenly Peace with the great Chairman Mao's portrait on it, we come to this morning's highlight - the 600-year-old Forbidden City, which is the largest and the most intact imperial palace complex of the Ming and Qing courts (1368-1911 AD).
The majestic Forbidden City has 9,999 rooms! Which are the most essential and interesting parts? Our veteran itinerary designer has carefully selected the top 10 palaces for you, including the major ones on the traditional central axis, and some special chambers on the east and west wings.

  • Since the Forbidden City is usually not open on Mondays, we will arrange the morning visit to the Summer Palace instead of Tiananmen Square & the Forbidden City if your travel date happens to meet Monday. The Summer Palace is the largest and the best preserved royal garden in the world. It is a fantastic resort for travelers to admire the peaceful landscapes and magnificent architecture.
11:30 - 13:00 Drive to Mutianyu Great Wall
It takes around 1.5 hours to drive from the downtown Beijing to the Mutianyu Great Wall. Your guide will share with you some historical facts and less-known titbits on the Great Wall of China.
  • During the drive, we will considerately provide every member with bottles of drinking water and small local refreshments, which will give you a bite of Beijing.
13:00 - 16:00 Visit Mutianyu Great Wall
All the Great Wall sights are located far from the city center and lack of decent restaurants. We have no detours to the restaurants in order to make the most out of your time to explore the Great Wall.
As one of the best-preserved sections of China Great Wall, Mutianyu is popular for its distinctive watchtowers and breathtaking natural scenery. You will have plenty of time to hike on the wall and take nice photos. Additionally, the histories and stories of this world wonder shared by your professional tour guide will make your Great Wall experience more interesting and unforgettable.
  • Wise lunch suggestion: Your guide will show you the Subway and the Burger King at the foot of the wall. The best way we recommend is to buy some takeout on your own and have a picnic on the Great Wall, which could be an exciting experience.

  • Ways to go up and down the Great Wall
Hike the whole way: If you start hiking from the North Entrance, you will reach No. 8 or No. 10 watchtower. While No. 6 or No. 8 watchtower could be accessed if you go through the South Entrance. There are around 500 steps on the mountain way. Usually it takes about half an hour getting to the watchtower whichever route you take.

Round-way cable car: You can opt to take a round-way cable car, or a chair lift up and a toboggan down. The latter one is more popular among adventurous travelers. You can decide and purchase the cable car tickets on spot with your guide's assistance.

Hike up and cable car/ toboggan down: You may hike one way up to the wall to experience the hardship of the laborers to construct the wall in ancient times, and then after the wall visit, you may take a cable car or a toboggan down. The cable car upper station is at the No. 14 watchtower and the toboggan can be found at the No. 6 watchtower.

17:30 - 17:50 Photo Stop at Olympic Bird's Nest
On the way, we will drive by the National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, the main venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. You can take nice photos of this unique building.

The Beijing day trips to Great Wall of Mutianyu was great in general. One pity was that the weather became bad during our tour to Nanluoguxiang Alley. We didn’t have a perfect ending. However, the rainy landscape in the old Hutongs had another special charm. Other spots and services were great! It was worth joining in.

We were happy with the Beijing day trip to Great Wall of Mutianyu, Forbidden City & Tiananmen Square. Our guide was extremely experienced, detail in explaining, and very fun to be with. He was enthusiastic to share the interesting historical stories about the imperial family in the Forbidden City and the great achievements of the Great Wall. The last stop at the old alleys was relaxed and we all enjoyed strolling through them and tasted the local snacks.

Our guide was amazing, very responsible and thoughtful! From the beginning to the ending, he did an excellent job. In Forbidden City, he told us some necessary reminders and provided a wonderful explanation of the history. According to our guide, there were 9,999 rooms in the majestic palace and our itinerary designer chose the top 10 ones for us to visit. Quite amazing! Besides, no hidden cost on this itinerary and you guys can book the Beijing day trips to Forbidden City trustingly. Highly recommended! ... More

A not good Beijing day trip. I have looked forward to visiting Beijing for a long time, especially for the Forbidden City. However, it was a pity that I didn’t have too much free time to explore the Forbidden City on my own. What’s worse, it is so crowded and noisy that I couldn’t listen to the explanation clearly…

Everything went exactly to plan and we were extremely happy! The guide’s excellent explanation brought us a special travel experience! What impressed us a lot was the Nanluoguxiang Hutong where we explored by ourselves. There were lots of boutique shops, cafes, a few pubs and restaurants. It was a good place to feel the charms of old alleyways in Beijing. The food there was delicious! We liked it! It was a satisfying Beijing day tour!

The tour guide Selina was super nice! She was warm-hearted and lovely and gave us much help! Because the Mutianyu Great Wall was far from the city center and there was a lack of good restaurants nearby, she was kind enough to advise us to bring some snacks! We happily shared our food together! So excellent! We enjoyed this Beijing day tour very much!
