    What to expect in Guizhou?

Guizhou is home to 48 Chinese ethnic groups, second only to Yunnan, each of which have developed their own unique customs and cultures. Among them, Miao and Dong minorities are the two biggest groups in Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture. Starting your journey from Kaili and moving onwards, you will see villages of different minorities one after another along with amazing natural sceneries.

Many traditional festivals are also celebrated among different ethnic groups each year, which attract a lot of travelers from far away. When a festival is hosted, they dress up, prepare a lot of festival food and celebrate it with rich activities, such as singing, dancing, trading and all kinds of competitions. Should you take our private guided tours to Guizhou you may want to try on their traditional dress and join in with the festivities.

When is the best time to visit Guizhou?

The climate in Guizhou is often mild and moist, neither extremely hot nor cold. Although the best time for taking Guizhou tour packages is during late August, spring (March-May), summer (June-August) and autumn (September-November) are all wonderful seasons for sightseeing. During these months, you can also expect to experience traditional festivals such as Sanyuesan Festival and Sister's Meal Festival in spring, Liuyueliu Festival in summer, and the Shui New Year Festival in autumn. The best seasons for visiting Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun are summer and autumn when the scenery is the most splendid.

We booked an 8 days in-depth Guizhou tour on Travel China Guide last year. The guide was from ethnic minorities and spoke English very fluently and clearly. She shared us with lots of their folk cultures and local historical stories. She was amiable, interesting and experienced in arranging our route and adjusting the schedule according to the changeable weather. We were also very pleased with her service of reminding us of the matters needing attention!

This Guizhou tour was worthy, with a comfortable hotel, responsible guide, and beautiful scenery. Our guide spoke fluent English and had good knowledge of those spots in Guizhou.
We went there in March, the off-season, so we had plenty of time to travel and play. We visited Miao Ethnic Minority Villages, among which I liked the Qingman Long-Skirt Miao Village. The people in this village wore long skirts, thus the name. The Miao villagers were very hospitable and served us with block way wine. This village still retained its original look: bluestone roads, and wooden stilt houses. We could feel its traditional lifestyle when we visited a local family. The life in the beautiful village was so happy and relaxing that I did want to leave. I would recommend my friends to travel to Guizhou! A terrific place! ... More

I was most impressed by the Shiqiao Miao Village on our Guizhou trip. We visited this village and watched the making process of paper. The villagers used tree roots and bark to produce paper. An amazing and great technique! Besides, although we just got along with them for several hours, their hospitality and passion for life touched my heart. I really liked their lifestyle, cozy and cheerful. I would go there again if I had an opportunity.

We rarely joined the group tour, but this Guizhou trip gave us a great surprise and happiness. We were so lucky that we met a good guide as she organized a perfect itinerary for us. She booked delicious meals and best rooms in the hotel, emphasized repeatedly travel routes and time, and reminded us of some matters that need to pay attention to. Everything was arranged perfectly. She was patient to answer our questions and positively helped us to handle some issues. Our driver was courteous and skillful. This trip was on the off-season in China, so we had enough time and space to enjoy the beautiful scenery. A wonderful tour! I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending TCG to my friends! ... More

The scenery in Guizhou was very beautiful. We were so lucky to meet a good tour guide. She organized a reasonable itinerary for us. We visited the splendid Huangguoshu Waterfall, famous for its magnificence, strangeness, danger, and elegance. According to our guide, the main waterfall was 74 meters high and 81 meters wide, so splendid and magnificent! We also visited some Miao Villages and learned about some interesting local customs. Overall, it was a worthy tour. Looking forward to the next trip with tcg! ... More

I feel tired after the 8 days of Guizhou tour from Guiyang. It took a long time by car, and the journey between sites was a little far away. But we had been prepared for that. Our tour guides and the drivers were quite friendly and experienced. The hotels were all very well arranged. The experiences of some villages and old towns were quite interesting and meaningful.

This 8 days Guizhou tour was absolutely worth trying! It was a city full of the culture of Chinese Ethnic Minorities and we visited some villages to experience their life style and customs. Quite a unique journey!

The sightseeing time was enough for us to explore the local ancient towns on our own. The hotels served great accommodations and the Sour Soup Fish - one of the representative dishes of Guizhou was so delicious!! Don’t miss it!
