Tour Guide - Effie Zuo

Hello everybody, my name is Effie and I am from Guilin. My Chinese name is Zuo Hongping - Zuo is my family name; hong means the red color in Chinese, which stands for happiness and good luck in China and that's why my parents gave me this name; ping means equal or fair. Before I was born, my parents thought it was going to be a boy, but when I was born they saw I was a girl, and then they said "ok, boys and girls are equal". That’s why they named me "ping":). I guess I am a very lucky girl because of the name. I'm a happy and positive girl, and I love life, love my job, and never get tired of good and beautiful things in life. I'm lucky because my eyes see the beautiful things in life!

Graduated from Guilin Tourism Institute and majored in tourism English, I have been working as an English-speaking guide since 2000, so I have been doing this job for over 12 years and still love it! I love my job because it plays a positive role in my life. I learn a lot from working, by talking with different people and exchanging ideas about work, life, and thoughts. This widens my eyes, improves my knowledge, and makes me want to learn more! From working experiences, I realize that we always have so much to learn to improve ourselves. There are so many interesting things to discover or to learn, and learning new things makes me so happy!

I love music so much, in my spare time and I like to sing Karaoke with my friends. I also like reading, traveling, and learning new things and languages. One of my big dreams in life is to be able to speak at least 4 languages.

I have been a local guide for numerous tour groups from all over the world. I believe all my clients appreciate and enjoy my service. I probably can’t speak excellent English, as compared to a person with English as his native language, but all I am trying to do is to make my tourists love Guilin, love the natural beauty and the interesting people here. I can tell people about the city’s changes during the last 20 years as I am a local here. I can introduce the most beautiful places to my tourists as I love the parks, gardens, rivers, lakes, animals, and hills. So please come and visit my beautiful home town Guilin, I am looking forward to being your local guide.

As I know, it will operate on Sunday. You can take the bamboo rafting. Generally speaking, you don't need to book the tickets in advance. Just purchase the tickets when you arriving at the dock. For the exact cost, you are suggested to consult the staff. It won't be expensive. Don't worry.
