How to Travel between Guangzhou Airport and Dongguan

The distance from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN) to Dongguan is only about 80 kilometers (50 miles). It is possible to travel between the two places by direct intercity bus, shuttle bus / metro + high speed train, shuttle bus / metro + normal speed train or taxi. 

1. The intercity shuttle bus between Guangzhou Airport and Dongguan is the best way for travelers, spending 1.5 to 2 hours on the way with the fare of CNY 65-80 per person. 
2. From Guangzhou Airport, passengers can take airport shuttle bus or metro to get to Guangzhou Railway Station or Guangzhou East Railway Station first, then take high speed trains to Dongguan. The whole way spends 1-2 hours in total and costs CNY 52.5 to 83 per person. Normal speed trains are also available from Guangzhou downtown to Dongguan.  
3. For passengers who prefer comfortable journey, they can choose to take a direct taxi. In general, the cab fare is CNY 250 to 300 for a single trip.
 

  

Taking direct long distance bus is the most convenient way from Baiyun Airport to Dongguan. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours on the way and arrives at Nancheng, Docheng, Songshan Lake, Humen and Chang'an Town of Dongguan.

Frequent scheduled direct high speed trains depart from Guangzhou Railway Station / East Railway Station to Dongguan Railway Station nowadays. With the train ticket fares of CNY 45.5 for Second Class Seat and CNY 50.5 for First Class Seat, the travel time is about 0.5 to 1 hour. Also, some Guangzhou-Dongguan high speed trains reach Dongguan South Railway Station, directly or with a stopover at Dongguan Railway Station, costing the ticket fare of CNY 71-76 for Second Class Seat and CNY 84-92 for First Class Seat. However, to travel by this way, one needs to take Guangzhou Airport Shuttle Bus or Metro to reach the railway stations first.

 From Guangzhou Airport via Guangzhou Railway Station:
→ Take airport shuttle bus line 1 and get off at Aviation Ticket Office or Baima Complex (Railway Station) Bus Stop first. It takes around an hour on the way with the fare of CNY 22 per person.
→ Then walk to the railway station and take a high speed train to Dongguan.

 From Guangzhou Airport via Guangzhou East Railway Station:
→ First of all, take Guangzhou metro line 3 from Airport North/South Station to East Railway Station. The travel time is about 40 minutes, costing CNY 7 per person. 
→ Then follow the clear signs and arrive at East Railway Station to take the train.
 

Passengers need to take airport shuttle bus or metro to get to Guangzhou Railway Station or East Railway Station first. Then take the normal speed train to Dongguan Railway Station or Dongguan East Railway Station. The train takes about 1 to 1.5 hours on the way with the fare of CNY 14.5 to 31.5 per person for Hard Seat.
 

For travelers who want to enjoy comfortable journey, they are advised to take a taxi from airport to the destination in Dongguan downtown.

Passengers are suggested to take a high speed train from Dongguan Railway Station to Guangzhou East Railway Station first. It takes around half an hour on the way with the fare of CNY 45.5 to 50.5 per person. After arriving, take metro line 3 to the airport directly. The metro ticket fare is CNY 7 per person, spending around 40 minutes.
 

First of all, it is advised to take normal speed train from Dongguan Railway Station or Dongguan East Railway Station to Guangzhou North Railway Station or East Railway Station. The duration is 1 to 1.5 hours. The ticket fares range from CNY 14.5 to 31.5 per person for Hard Seat.

Afterwards, passengers take metro line 9 from Guangzhou North Railway Station and transfer to metro line 3 at Gaozeng station, or take metro line 3 directly from East Railway Station to the Baiyun Airport. It spends 40-60 minutes in general. The metro ticket fare is CNY 5 per person from Guangzhou North Railway Station.
