Guilin Zoo
Located inside the Seven Stars Park, or more specifically, the back side of Camel Hill, Guilin Zoo is a professional zoo and the only scientific and educational base for pandas outside their places of origin. It was first built in 1959 and has been expanded after, to the scale of more than 8 hectares (19.8 acres). It boasts about 20 exhibition areas and is the home to over 100 species of animals, the number of which is up to 1,000. The state protected animals, such as giant pandas, golden monkeys, gibbons, red-crowned cranes and Leaf Monkey can be seen here.
Strolling into Guilin Zoo, the first thing that captures your attention is the beautiful environment. The zoo has been made to reproduce the real home of animals to ensure them a comfortable and healthy living environment. For those accustomed to social life, they are given a common area and living as a family. For those preferring to live alone, they enjoy absolute freedom in their own world. Also, the area full of sand ensures the kangaroos a place the same as in their homes; vast water area is provided for swans; as for flamingos or other birds, the Guilin Zoo just employs the mesh enclosure to provide a vast room for them to enjoy flying.
