Dunhuang Train Schedule

The city Dunhuang has only railway station for passenger transport.

As the second largest railway station in Gansu Province, Dunchuang railway station only specializes in trains from Dunhuang to Beijing, Yinchuan, Baotou, Hohhot, Lanzhou, Xi'an, Zhangye, Datong, Jiuquan, Tianshui and Jiayuguan. The railway station is about 12 kilometers (8 miles) from the city center, and only about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from Mogao Caves.

From the railway station, passengers can take city bus to Mogao Caves. The city bus departs every 30 minutes from 08:30 to 18:00 with the ticket fare of CNY 8. Also, passengers can take a taxi to get to Mogao Caves which takes only about 20 minutes and costs about CNY 35.

How can I connect a train?

I will visit Xinjiang province and will end my trip in Dunhuang, I searched and there was no train between Turpan to Dunhuang, is that true?

All trains from Turpan to Dunhuang stop at Liuyuan station, please search Liuyuan and then you can find many train schedules from Turpan. But liuyuan station is over 100km away from Dunhuang, I suppose you need to arrange a car in advance. The public buses are also available.

The temperature is definitely enough for ice and snow, but it cannot be predict if there will be a big snow.

Where to stay at Dunhuang?

What is the recommendation hotel (clean, comfortable with proper heater as traveling in winter) in Dunhuang with convenience access to airport and train station?

For Dunhuang, usually people choose to stay near Shazhou market area. You can choose a hotel in that area.

Transport and hotel with short traveling to Lanzhou airport

Will arrive Lanzhou late night at 22:20. Then will take 10am flight to Dunhuang on next day. Any good recommendation hotel (clean, comfortable with proper heater as traveling in winter) to stay for convenience transport access with the short traveling time?

There is a Skycity Hotel inside the airport, maybe around 10min walking. You can consider this one

Now it seems no direct train from Dunhuang to Urumqi, you can consider to go to Yumen or Jiayuguan and then to Urumqi
