Running Route of  Hong Kong - Guangzhou High Speed Trains

Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway has a whole distance of about 142 km (88 mi). 5 stations are along the line, Qingsheng, Humen, Guangmingcheng, Shenzhen North and Futian respectively. The bullet trains are named as Vibrant Express and they run at a speed of 200 km/h (124 mph) in Hong Kong and at a speed of 300 km/h (187 mph) in mainland of China. Besides, there is free Wi-Fi covering the whole carriages of bullet trains.

How to Enter Mainland China from West Kowloon Station

Cooperation immigration check model is used in West Kowloon Station. After purchasing their tickets in the B1 level, passengers need to reach the Hong Kong Port in B3 level to handle the exit procedures and then move forward to Mainland China Port on the same floor in order to handle entry procedures. Having finished these procedures, they can go down to the B4 level and take trains leaving Hong Kong finally.

Hong Kong - Guangzhou high speed trains run between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Guangzhou South Station, with the travel time of about 50 minutes and ticket price of CNY 215 for a second class seat.  

Hong Kong - Guangzhou through trains, with a running speed of only 140 km/h (87 mph), take the duration of about two hours. Although their ticket price is a little lower, CNY 179 for the cheapest first class seat, they are not recommended.

Taking coaches is another choice for passengers who have enough time but limited budget. Currently, there are many coaches of different bus companies shuttling between these two cities. A round trip ticket will cost about CNY 150 and the duration for a single ride is about 3 – 4 hours. Another advantage of taking coaches is that passengers can choose their pick-up points freely.

Do tickets have to be bought in advance or is at station on travel time also fine?
I want to go to Guangzhou from HK, but I would like to arrive at station and buy ticket then. Are trains usually not completely full?

there are many rides a day for this trip so the ticket availability is usually fine. But if you will travel during holiday time, it is a little risky.

You may consider the Vienna Hotel (Guangzhou Panyu South Railway Station) which is about 1.8km and about 20min walking.
