This scenic area is divided into tourist zones: Grand Canyon and Jingtaishan, covering about 20 square kilometers (about 7.7 square miles). The most elegant landscape of the canyon is the over 30-meter (about 98-feet) high waterfall, steep and magnificent cliff, five linked pools, plank road along the canyon and limpid lake. Old Elepant Peak Scenic Area lies in a grand canyon of Xiaoyuzi Village, Pinggu. Looking northwards, you will find a peak like a giant elephant. It seems to show the lifelike elephant’s trunk, eyes, legs and even the whole body. A cave on the back of the “elephant” is called Immortals Cave. A legend says that the cave was the lounge of the immortals where they usually rested and collogued. Additionally, there are Tiger Claw Peak, Heavenly Inkstone, Rhinoceros Watching the Moon Stone and other interesting scenic spots.

Covering about 12 square kilometers (about 4.6 square miles), the canyon includes over 50 scenic spots. Mt. Shilin formed during the past 1.4 billion years as the geological conditions change presenting various stone shapes. You can take subway line 1 to Jianguomen to switch to line 2 to Dongzhimen.
Then, take bus 852 to Pinggu Shiji Guangchang and switch to Pinggu bus 12 to Taopeng.
The peach blossom will be last till end of May.

I suppose you start from Tian’anmen Square, then the taxi fare is around 330-350yuan, and the duration is about 1.5h.
Or you can take subway line 2 to Dongzhimden and then catch bus 852 from Dongzhimen Hub to PG Xiaofangdui to transfer to Ping 38, which can take you to Shilinxia directly. The fare is 24yuan in total. The duration is nearly 3h.

I suggest you go to the grand canyon first, but the two sites are a little far apart, so it is best to stay overnight near the canyon.

To the grand canyon: take bus no. 852 at Dongzhimen Transport Hub to Pinggu District Hospital and change to Pinggu Line 12 to Daxiagu. Then walk to the entrance of the canyon. I remember you have to take the cable car up and down. The glass walkway here is worthwhile.

To the peach flower blossom, still take Pinggu Line 12 to Changguanlou, and change to Pinggu Line 20. You need to get off at Xiaoyuzi and walk there.

To return to downtown, take Pinggu Line 53 (last bus leaves at 13:40) to Guanzhuang Lukou and transfer to 852 to Dongzhimen.

Sorry, didn’t notice the platform before.
To the platform from the Canyon: take Bus Ping 12 to Shangdongzhuang Lukou, and take Bus Ping 25 then. Transfer to Bus Ping 38 at Hudongshui, and get off at Bolitai, you will get there.

You should go to the canyon first.
And then you can take Bus Ping 12 to Shangdongzhuang Lukou, transfer to Bus Ping 25. Another transfer to Bus Ping 38 at Hudongshui, and get off at Bolitai.

As for Q2, you don't need to stay there overnight, and I'm glda to give you the returning transport from the platform:
Take Bus Ping 34 and transfer to Bus 852 at Guangzhuang Lukou.
By the way, the last Bus Ping 34 leaves at 16:00.

Well, from downtown area, you are suggested to take public bus no.852 at Dongzhimen Station, get off at Guanzhuang Intersection Station. Then transfer to bus Ping No.34 to arrive at Bolitai Station. After arriving, walk to the scenic area directly. Notably, the departure time of bus no.Ping 34 are just 7:30, 9:40, 13:00 and 16:00. Thus you are adviced to arrange your time properly.
