What Is the Best Time to Go Yangshuo? - September to November
For most tourists, autumn from September to November is the best time to visit Yangshuo.
Regarding the weather, September in Yangshuo still sees slightly high temperature, but it’s not as stiflingly hot as summer. October and November bring warm or cool temperature, generally very comfortable. Precipitation during this period rarely exceeds 100 mm per month on average, and heavy rain is of really low possibility. Sunshine hours are relatively long and average around 5-6 hours daily. All of these weather conditions are favorable for outdoor activities.

Regarding scenery, September and October showcase lush green mountains and full and clear waters, creating stunning views. By November, water levels may drop slightly but remain high enough not to significantly impact the beauty of the landscape and activities like bamboo rafting. Besides, Yangshuo’s landscape remains relatively lush and green throughout November.

Regarding crowds, aside from the
National Day holiday in early October, these three months have no other extended public holidays, contributing to generally low visitor numbers. So, you can fully immerse yourself in Yangshuo’s idyllical tranquility. Traveling during this period also eliminates worries about accommodations in tight supply or high costs.
March to April: OK Months to Go
The only slightly less favorable condition you might encounter when traveling to Yangshuo during these two months is the high rainfall and humidity. During this period, Yangshuo experiences frequent light to moderate rain, often resulting in foggy weather. The high humidity means your clothes and hotel beddings may feel damp. However, apart from this, all other aspects remain ideal for travel. First, most days offer warm and comfortable temperature, though occasional temperature drops may occur. Second, Yangshuo is less crowded during this season, and accommodations are more affordable. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the mist created by the light rain can offer a unique and rare landscape.

May to June: Not Recommended Due to the Highest Rainfall of the Year
During this period, the city sees quite many rainy days, and some heavy and torrential rain falls. During heavy rain, it’s not suitable for outdoor sightseeing. After the rain, the waters of the
Li River and
Yulong River may turn murky and yellow, no longer clear, appearing less harmonious with the surrounding green mountains. Their water levels also rise, potentially making bamboo rafting inaccessible. Additionally, June experiences relatively muggy weather.

July to August: Not Recommended for Large Crowds & Stuffy Weather
The scenery in Yangshuo during these two months is impeccable, with mountains and fields blanketed in lush foliage and rivers flowing full. Although rainfall is also relatively high, the rain at this time tends to be brief and has only a little impact on outdoor sightseeing. However, even so, it's not advisable to visit Yangshuo during these two months. First, the weather in Yangshuo during this period is hot and stuffy, making you feel quite uncomfortable. Second, Yangshuo is packed with tourists spending their summer vacation here:
West Street is crowded, bamboo rafting requires long waits, and hotel prices skyrocket…

December to February: Cool or A Little Cold and Quiet Months
At this time of year, Yangshuo is mostly cool, though a bit chilly days with the daily high hovering around 10°C (50°F) occur occasionally. While rainy days are infrequent during this period, overcast and foggy weather is common, indicating that the chance that you can enjoy the sunshine is small. Additionally, while the scenery remains pleasant, it doesn’t rival the beauty of other seasons: The Li River and Yulong River are in their low-water period. Some trees retain their green foliage, but overall, the landscape appears somewhat bleak and muted, especially on overcast days. However, if you prefer a quiet and leisurely atmosphere, Yangshuo at this time is not a bad choice. Moreover, hotel rates in Yangshuo are at their lowest during this period.
