How to Travel between Hong Kong and Dongguan

The distance between Hong Kong and Dongguan is approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles). The best way to travel between is by high speed train, taking 40 - 70 minutes and at least CNY 111. Ferries only sail to/from Sky Pier of Hong Kong Airport, taking 1.5 hours and CNY300 for ordinary cabin.

How to Travel from Hong Kong Airport (HKIA) to Dongguan

1. Ferry:

If passengers arrive at Hong Kong International Airport, then taking a ferry from Sky Pier to Humen HK/Macau Ferry Terminal is the most convenient choice. Please note Sky Pier is only open to passengers of Hong Kong Airport.
Timetable: 10:00, 14:30, 18:30 daily
Duration: 90 minutes
Ticket Price:
CNY300 for ordinary cabin; CNY400 for first class cabin; CNY500 for deluxe cabin

2. Airport Express + High speed Train

→ Take the airport express train from HKIA to Kowloon Station: 21 minutes, HKD100 (≈CNY86)
→ Walk to West Kowloon Railway Station to take a high speed train to Dongguan: 40 - 70 minutes, CNY 111-178 for a second class seat.

3. Coach

To buy the HKIA-Dongguan coach, passengers can go to Counter M01, M02, M04 and M05, Mainland/Macau Transportation Centre, L5, T1 for consulting. The ticket price is CNY200-300 and the duration is about 2.5-4 hours.

Bus journey from Dongguan to Kowloon

Planning to take bus from Dongguan ( Kande International Hotel ) to Mongkok , Kowloon. May I know which is the nearest get off point in Kowloon to reach Mongkok?

High Speed Train between HK and Dongguan

Hi, I've been told that the high speed train from HK to Dongguan cannot be taken by foreigners, could you please confirm?

As I know, it can still be taken by foreigners who have Chinese visas, don't worry too much.

You will travel by what? I recommend the direct ferry from Humen Pier to Skypier in HK airport. You can book the ticket here: cksp.com.hk

Or you can travel by high speed train from Humen Railway Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station; the ticket can be booked right on this website. Upon arrival, change to local MTR or bus to the airport.

travel between Hong Kong and China

I was recently told you cannot walk between Hong Kong and Shenzhen anymore and that i had to catch a Plane for this trip , can i catch the high speed train from the airport and or Kowloon station ?

Why cannot one walk across the border any more? I haven't heard about it yet. Maybe it's the visa issues. If you hold a entry permit, you can travel between by any transport means.
