Service Center of Hong Kong Airport Express
Service Center
If you take the express train using the Octopus Card/ contactless bank card, you can interchange to MTR line after getting off the express train to urban area free of charge. The precondition is that your card has usable value; meanwhile, you need to transfer from the Airport Express to the metro within one hour. The time counts from your first tap at the check-in gate.

The same is true of transferring from MTR lines to Airport Express. For example, if you get on MTR train in downtown and change to Airport Express within 1 hour since you tap to enter the MTR station, you will only be charged a one-way ticket for Airport Express without the need to pay for the previous MTR train.

At Hong Kong Station and Kowloon Station, 6 airlines including Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Mandarin Airlines, Qantas Airways, and Singapore Airlines provide in-town check-in and baggage tag-through service during their working hours free of charge. Passengers are able to get the boarding pass and check in their luggage through 24 hours in advance and up to 90 minutes prior to the flight departure time, and then continue to visit the city at ease until going to the airport.
