How to Travel from Hong Kong Airport to Guangzhou

To reach Guangzhou downtown, 170 kilometers (105 miles) away from Hong Kong airport (HKIA), passengers can enter Hong Kong city center first and get to Guangzhou by high speed train, or take a direct coach or ferry upon landing. If you prefer a comfortable travel experience with sufficient budget, chartering a car is a good option.
 It’s the most efficient travel choice, without being affected by weather or traffic, thus recommended for business travelers sensitive to time and tourists with a fixed schedule.
 → Take the Hong Kong Airport Express from the airport to Kowloon Station: 22 minutes, HKD 105 (USD 13.4).
→ Walk to Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station. The shortest route via Elements shopping mall takes 10 - 15 minutes. 
→ Take a high speed train heading towards Guangzhou South Railway Station: 1 - 2 hours, HKD 524 – 836 (USD 66.8 – 106.6) for a business class seat, HKD 303 - 444 (USD 38.6 – 56.6) for a first class seat, and HKD 215 – 278 (USD 27.4 – 35.5) for a second class seat. 
 → Take the bus line A22/ E23A from Ground Transportation Center of Hong Kong International Airport to Austin Station, Jordan Road stop: 55/ 80 minutes, HKD 40.8/ 18.6 (USD 5.2/ 2.4)
→ Get to the entrance of Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station on foot in around 6 minutes.
→ Similarly, take a bullet train to Guangzhou South Railway Station.
The coach takes passengers to many popular spots in downtown Guangzhou directly from the airport, like TeeMall, Haizhu Square, etc., and major hotels including China Hotel, Chime Long Hotel, and Guangzhou Hotel. Mainly 4 companies, including CTG Bus, Eternal East Tours, S.T. Travel, and KCTIL Travel, operate these coaches with different timetables and mid-stops, but similarly, it departs with a short interval of around 0.5 - 1 hour daily from about 7 am to 10 pm, offering a lot of choices to tourists. → Follow the direction boards signed “Mainland/ Macao Transport” to reach the service counters of the coach, located on F3 of Terminal 2. Choose the route you need and get a ticket. Online booking via their respective official WeChat account is also feasible.
→ Get on the bus at the designated boarding point. You will be guided to go through customs halfway at the border check with all your luggage and then continue the ride to your destination. It requires about 2 hours on board.
 If you carry large-size baggage or travel with children, and your flight offers luggage check-through service, taking the ferry can be an ideal choice to save energy. In fact, you cannot claim your luggage or go through customs in HK upon landing if you plan to use the ferry, because all procedures are completed within the transit area. In other words, the ferry is only applicable to transit passengers at the airport.

 How to take:
Prepare your flight ticket, passport, and baggage tag to get a ticket and a new baggage voucher at the Mainland/ Macao Transport Ticketing Counter at Transfer Area E2 at least 1 hour before the ferry departure. After that, get to the SkyPier Terminal by Automated People Mover to board the ferry. Once again, the staff will warmly help transfer your luggage onto the ferry, and you only need to collect it after arriving at the final port in Guangzhou.
