2. Children under 3 can get free rides; aged 3-11 can buy a Child Ticket with a 50% discount.
3. Tourists who shuttle back to the airport within the same day enjoy a free ride for the return trip.
2. Cheapest Way – Airport Bus: HKD 3.7 - 60.7
Schedule: 06:00-00:00 for most routes with an interval of 15 - 30 minutes. Night buses serve at around 00:30 - 05:00, usually departing every 1 hour.
Bus lines: There are about 50 bus lines from Hong Kong Airport to downtown areas, including Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, and Causeway Bay. Buses to Central take about 70 minutes and to Kowloon about 45 - 55 minutes if there is no traffic jam.
How to take: All buses pick up passengers at Ground Transportation Center of the Airport, with respective boarding lines. Passengers can pay by transit QR code on Alipay or WeChat, cash, Octopus card, or contactless bank cards when getting on buses. If it is the A bus, paper ticket is also offered at ticket windows of the bus terminus.
Pros & Cons: The airport bus covers most urban areas, including both popular places and remote spots. With an appropriate route, tourists are even able to reach their destination directly without any transfer, and appreciate the street view during the ride, at a lower cost and a moderate duration. Among them, A buses are the most popular for their short duration, while the cheapest E buses serve as the best option for budget travelers. Night buses assist passengers arriving early or late.
Suitable for: People with a limited budget but sufficient time, low-pace visitors
Actually, many hotels around the airport offer a free shuttle, and it often only takes about 5 – 10 minutes on board, suitable for tourists with a short transit in HK. The same is true of those located in Tung Chung, about 5 km (3.1 mi) away from the airport and a 30-minute MTR ride to Hong Kong Disneyland, such as Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung, Four Points by Sheraton Tung Chung, Regala Skycity Hotel, SkyCity Marriott, etc.
After picking up your luggage upon arrival, find the boarding points following the direction board labeled “Tour/Hotel Coach” and board without any credentials like a hotel order. The operation time is usually around 05:45 – 00:00, covering early and night flights, with an interval of 0.5 – 1 hour.
3. Flexible Way - Taxi
Boarding Point: Taxi Station outside the Arrivals Hall to hail a taxi, Car Park 1 for pre-booked taxi, Car Park 4 or entrance to Regal Airport Hotel for online hailing
Taxi is relatively expensive but the most flexible way to transport from Hong Kong airport to city. Passengers can take taxis in three colors:
Red taxis: Also called urban taxis, they leave for downtown areas including Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and New Territories.
Green taxis: Also named New Territories taxis, they mainly serve passengers to New Territories.
Blue taxis: Known as Lantau taxis, they run in Lantau Island and Chek Lap Kok.
