Travel Tips:
1. February coincides with the Chinese New Year Holiday in 2026, so it can be really difficult to book train tickets of that period. Therefore, you are highly recommended to book tickets at least two weeks earlier.
2. Despite the Chinese New Year holiday, February is still a low season in Hohhot. Some attractions are not open and you’d better confirm it before going.
3. Considering the short daylight time, you are highly recommended to schedule key sightseeing activities between 10:00 and 15:00, when the weather is at its warmest and most scenic spots are open.
4. If you plan to catch a sunrise or sunset in the suburbs, be sure to wear an extra layer to keep warm, as the temperature is significantly lower during these times. Recommended viewing spots include Qiandao Lake and Hongshiya Cliff.
