In the downtown: 

You can wear a light long-sleeve shirt paired with a windbreaker, a knitwear or a trench coat. As for the bottom, light jeans or sweatpants coupled with comfortable sneakers are practical. 
 

In the grasslands or other suburban areas: 

As the temperature is lower, we recommend that you wear a light hoodie paired with a windbreaker. If you want to stay overnight there, a light downcoat is necessary. For the bottom clothing, windproof hiking pants are perfect; at night, you may need to add thermal leggings. Besides, non-slip hiking boots are highly recommended.

Since there are insects on the grasslands, remember to pack insect repellent.

2. Despite the shoulder season, you need to notice that 25th to 27th of September, 2026 is the Mid-Autumn Festival, when there might be a slight surge in tourists and hotel rates. Therefore, it’s best to avoid this period or book your train ticket and hotel at least two weeks earlier. 

3. As the highlight in September is the autumn view, the natural attractions are highly recommended to visit. At this time, the grassland shows a lightly yellowish shade - a mix of green and yellow, yet it remains fairly breathtaking, dotted with cattle and horses. With fewer crowds and still decent scenery, you can have a memorable trip. 

4. For the peak of the autumn splendor, you are advised to visit Hadamen National Forest Park from mid-September to mid-October.
