Frequent Showers

 Average Precipitation: 204mm

Jinan steps into its major rainy period in July. This month, the city has about 8 - 12 rainy days. The rainfall is intense, often accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds; the bright side is that it often doesn’t last long and hence won’t ruin your trip. The groundwater level rises accordingly, and the springs like the Baotu Spring are churning more vigorously than during the dry season. However, heavy rainfall may lead to temporary road flooding and even urban inland inundation due to Jinan’s basin-like topography, resulting in traffic congestion.

On rainy days, the humidity gets high, leading to higher sensitive temperatures. If it gets rather high, people often feel sticky and muggy. Once the sky is clear, the humidity returns to moderate level and you may even feel a bit dry. On some other days, the air cools down after rain, which gives a short escape from the hot climate.
