Jinan steps into its major flood period in July. The city has the most concentrated rainfall with 8 - 12 rainy days. The rainfall is short yet intense, often accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. The groundwater level rises in July, with the Baotu Spring reaching a water level of 28 meters. Although it’s not yet the peak autumn water season for viewing, the mouths of spring are churning more vigorously than during the dry season. However, heavy rainfall may lead to road flooding and even urban inland inundation due to Jinan’s basin-like topography, resulting in traffic congestion.

Although it’s the rainy season, and the numbers of humidity may be high on rainy days, you won’t feel sticky and damp as it suddenly goes down once the sky is clear, and it’s hot and dry on sunny days without a breath of wind.

 Sunset time: 19:19 – 19:34

Continuous rainy days are rare. While short rainfall is off-putting, it won’t ruin your schedule, instead, the air cools down after rain, which is an advantage for outdoor sightseeing.
