 Season: Autumn
In Short: Jinan weather in September transitions from summer to autumn, from rainy to dry. Days are a little hot at the beginning and warm at the end and nights are cooler that a jacket is needed.

Temperature

 Average Temperature: 18℃ - 29℃ (64 - 84℉)
Recorded Highest Temperature: 35℃ (95 Degrees Fahrenheit)
 Recorded Lowest Temperature: 9℃ (48℉)

Jinan climate in September has bid farewell to summer and embraces gentle autumn. The highest temperatures at the beginning of the month rarely surpass 30 degrees Celsius (86℉) but you can still feel the lingering heat from August. At the end of September, the highs drop to 20 - 25℃ (68 - 77℉) and the lows dip to the teens. The refreshing temperatures are inviting tourists to participate in outdoor activities. The most apparent feature is that rainfall always brings drops in temperature.

Rainfall & Humidity

 Average Precipitation: 122mm
 Humidity: 55 - 90%

Although it’s rainy season, the major flood season has ended which indicates the shift from rainy to dry season. The precipitation spreads over 4 - 10 rainy days and patchy rain is the commonplace. Rainfall is less intense than last month so visitors ready and inched to head to Jinan have no worry about their trips, and sometime drizzles even adorn the springs and ancient narrow alleys, making the scene more appealing.

Interestingly, locals are not always totally convinced by the weather forecast because it’s inaccurate most of the time. So don’t plan your itinerary relying on the forecast but make it for reference only, just focus on the big direction. The practical pointer is, if it predicts a rainy day, you can expect short-lived or smaller rain and a day with less sunshine.

Is it a Good Month to Visit Jinan in September?

Experiencing moderate rainfall and pleasing climate, September is one of the best months for a vocation in Jinan. In late summer and early autumn, the city retains its summer vitality but escapes the oppressive heat. Replenished by concentrated rainfall in July and August, the groundwater level rises significantly, contributing to powerful geysers from springs like Baotu Spring and Black Tiger Spring. Furthermore, September falls between the summer holidays and the National Day Golden Week and experiences less tourist influx, so lower travel costs for flights, hotels, and other expenses make it a cost-effective option.

Where to Go in Jinan in September?

Baotu Spring Park and Daming Lake, as the cultural signs, are no doubt the spots that need to be prioritized. However, besides these two scenic spots, Zhuoying Spring, Mo Spring in Baimai Springs Park, and Black Tiger Spring gush even more vigorously than Baotu Spring. The spring water is crystal clear, and the plump koi carp fed by tourists seem to float in the air. In autumn, Qushuiting Street is a great place to experience Jinan’s “chill time”. Lined with bookstores, teahouses, cafes, and souvenir shops, it’s perfect for strolling. With its weeping willows, the classic Chinese houses with gray bricks and tiles and the flowing spring river, the street is an excellent location for having a photo shoot wearing Chinese traditional Han Fu.
