Forsythia, cherry blossoms, and magnolias are in full bloom, while willow branches along the springs and Daming Lake are turning green, engendering a refreshing scene. Even better, most domestic tourists choose to enjoy spring during the Qingming Festival and Labor Day holidays, so there are fewer tourists in March, allowing you to avoid crowds and enjoy lower accommodation prices.
  Clothes: Coats and outdoor jackets are always seen on streets. A puffer jacket should be prepared for the chilliness in early March. For bottom, jeans are fitted better with a thermal underwear. A cardigan or a hoodie is recommended for daytime sightseeing.

 In early March, visitors can admire the blooming plum blossoms at Baotu Spring. In mid-March, magnolias and apricot flower at Baotu Spring. Cherries at Wulongtan and Black Tiger Spring Park also blossom at this time: the branches sway in the breeze, and petals fall like rain, producing a scene comparable to the cherry blossoms of Kyoto in Japan, especially with the clear spring water. In late March, pink crabapple at Daming Lake blossoms in profusion. Along the path from the southwest gate to the south gate of Daming Lake, various flowers bloom. Beautiful sights are everywhere in Jinan.
 Exiting from the south gate of Daming Lake, you’ll find Qushuiting Street, an old street paved with bluestone slabs and built along the spring path. Small bridges span the flowing water, and weeping willows line the street. On one side are old houses with blue bricks and gray tiles, and on the other side is the clear spring with rippling blue water. Strolling along the street, you’ll find small teahouses and taverns on both sides of the road. You may order a cup of tea, sit down by the willow trees, chat with friends, and enjoy a leisurely time.
 Willows and poplars produce catkins in spring which drift in the wind and easily attract pollen, dust, and other allergens. Contacting with catkins can cause skin itching, rhinitis, or even asthma in allergy sufferers. The peak time for catkins is between 10 AM and 4 PM on sunny days. It is recommended to wear a mask, and allergy sufferers should remember to take antihistamines promptly.
