Tour Guide - Lee

It is a pleasure to introduce myself. My name is Lee. I am 26 years old and come from Guilin city. I have graduated from Guilin Institute of Tourism, class of 2008, major in Outbound Tour Leader. I am astute, outgoing, very fond of history and natural scenery. That leads to me becoming a tour guide in my hometown on my love of the landscape and grotesque caves.

I have explored many natural caves and ancient towns in the country with my friends, such as the four most famous caves of China---Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Mogao Cave in Dunhuang, Yungang Grottoes in Datong City, and Maiji Caves in Tianshui City. Additionally, I have been to many beautiful ancient towns, such as Pingyao Ancient Town, Phoenix Town, Lijiang Ancient Town, Wuyuan, Tongyi, Zhouzhuang, and Xitang. They are all worth visiting and I’d like to share my travel experiences with you if you would like to visit those attractions.

In May, 2010 I began my work as a tour guide in Guilin city which is one of the top tourist destinations as it is said 'East or west, Guilin landscape is best'. It is considered to be the pearl of China's thriving tourist industry on account of the natural beauty and historic treasures. I am interested in this city and I am in love with my job. I have learned on the job during these years in parallel to being reflexive and seize on self improvement opportunities. Sometimes I am more of a tourist myself, and I adopt a tourists' point of view. Maybe this is why I empathize with the guests in need of my help. And I always provide personalized service on account of my love for Guilin, and I am in tune with the natural scenery. It gladdens my heart to show my story of Guilin.

Once upon a time six British tourists came to Guilin and we climbed the Dragon’s Bone (Longji) Rice Terraces. Two children were in my group, and the dad carried one of them; but all other adults were too frail to carry the other kid, so I volunteered. We mutually enjoyed the experience. Maybe I'm not the most professional tour guide, but I want to be the most dedicated tour guide.

I want people to see the real China, so I will recommend them visiting the local market, villages and the farmer’s houses. Most would simply be thrilled. And most still keep in touch. We share photos and travel experiences.

I keep on learning: better English, more history and so forth. I want to keep abreast of things through learning. One day, soon, I wish to welcome you to Guilin personally and share a memorable tour with me!
