As it comes to September, Mount Fuji weather becomes cooler and cooler. On the hillside, the temperature goes down to 15℃ (59℉) averagely. In specific, the average high temperature reaches 18℃ (64.4℉) merely, while the average low temperature is as low as 12℃ (53.6℉). The rainfall and humidity also decrease a little in September around Mt. Fuji compared with previous months. Even so, the total rainfall reaches 143mm or so. In some years, the area may be attacked by typhoons in September. 

In early September, there is still a chance to climb up to the summit; thereafter, the snow cap on the mountain top recovers gradually. It’s recommended to get dressed with blouse, knitwear, hoodie, thick jacket, casual trousers, etc. on the hillside and thicker clothes on the summit.

Clothes to Wear on Mount Fuji in September

For it gets cooler in September on Mt. Fuji, blouse, knitwear, or thin sweater plus a thick jacket is appropriate to go to the hillside. Thick pants are also good to cope with the mountain climate. If going to the summit, thicker warm clothes like padded jacket are needed. Umbrella or raincoat is the must on rainy days.

In early September, visitors can still enjoy mountaineering to the summit of Mt. Fuji. Apart from Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Ashi on the other side is also a popular photo spot of Mt. Fuji. The cruise and Hakone Komagatake Ropeway there offer different viewing angles towards Mt. Fuji. For art lovers, Itchiku Kubota Art Museum is great to see the splendid works and charming yard. If travelling with kids, visitors can have a good time in Fuji Safari Park, to feed the wild beasts and get close to well-tempered beasties. Asagiri Kogen with wide vision is a large adventure land under Mt. Fuji, where paragliding is the most exciting way to see the mountain while descending.
