Hiking Tours to Hefei Suburbs

Option A: Chaohu Lake and Yinping Mountain
Day 1: Hefei - Chaohu Lake - Zhongmiao Temple - Laoshan Island
 
Chaohu Lake, covering an area of 80,000 hectares, is one of the Five Biggest Freshwater Lakes in China, which is also the most famous sightseeing site in Hefei. There are many long-distance buses run between Hefei and its suburb Chaohu City, and you can take it from Hefei Bus Station (Address: No. 168 Ming Guang Road; Telephone: +86 551 4297263). The direct bus is available every 20 minutes from 5:40 to 18:00, and it takes 60 minutes and costs CNY20 per person. Located in the middle of the Chaohu Lake, Laoshan Island is the highlight of the lake view. You can take a cruise to get on the island and the cruise charge is CNY60 per person (including the entrance fee of the island). Tonight, you can choose to stay in Chaohu City or get back to Hefei.
Day 2: Chaohu City - Yinping Mountain
 
Yingping Mountain is situated in the south suburb of Chaohu City, and it is famous for the Fairy Cave - an underground-river cave with a length of 15 miles. You can take direct bus from the downtown area of Chaohu City to Yinping Mountain to start your hiking tour, and the transfer charge is CNY6 per person. The admission fee of Yinping Mountain is CNY50.
Option B:  Shouxian Old City and Bagong Mountain
Day 1: Hefei - Huainan - Shouxian Old City
 
From Hefei to Huainan, you can take direct bus or train. Both bullet trains and normal speed trains are available. For bullet trains, you are suggested to take the No. G299, departing from Hefei Railway Station at 9:08 and arrives at Huainan East Railway Station at 9:34. The fare is CNY40.5 for a second class seat and CNY68.5 for a first class seat. If taking normal trains, you are advised to choose the train No. K8422 (8:20/9:30), and the ticket fare is CNY15.5 for a hard seat. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Hefei General Bus Station to Huainan first. From 6:30 to 19:00, the buses run at an interval of 20 minutes. The bus fare is CNY35 and the duration is about two hours. Upon arrival at Huainan Bus Station, take a taxi or hire a car to Shouxian directly at a cost of around CNY60.

Shouxian Old City is a state-class historical culture city with a history over 800 years. The ancient City Wall was built in the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279 AD) and used for city defense in ancient times, but now it becomes a "dam" to prevent flood. There is a Baoguo Temple in the city. The fancy murals and stone caves are highlights of today's hiking route. Rickshaw is the common vehicle in the city, and it is CNY2 - 4 every 2 kilometers.
Day 2: Shouxian Old City (Huainan City) - Bagong Mountain
 
For going to the Bagong Mountain from Huainan, you can take the bus No.121 from the downtown area of Huainan City, and it takes one hour and costs CNY2 per person. If setting off from Shouxian Old City, you can take a taxi for about 15 minutes at a cost of CNY30. Bagong Mountain is a popular local hiking site famous for not only its beautiful natural landscape, but historical battlefield in ancient China. The entrance fee of Bagong Mountain is CNY40.
