How to Travel Between Chongqing and Zhangjiajie

Chongqing is about 600 km (370 mi) from Zhangjiajie. The direct transportation means between the 2 cities include flight on peak seasons and bullet trains all year around. For flight, the travel time is 1 hour and the cheapest economic class ticket costs only CNY 450. The duration of bullet trains is 2-4 hours and a second class ticket for a single trip costs around CNY197-273.

Zhangjiajie West Railway Station Bullet Train

31 bullet trains run between the two cities and 21 of them depart from Chongqing East Railway Station, 6 from Chongqing West Railway Station, 3 from Chongqing North Railway Station and one from Jiangbei Airport Railway Station to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station. The shortest duration is only 2 hours 6 minutes. The trains depart from 07:02 to 19:08 every hour.

 How to Travel to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park from Zhangjiajie West Railway Station
From Tourism Distribution Center of Zhangjiajie West Railway, there are direct tourist buses to the east gate and south gate of the forest part with frequent departures. The buses serve from 07:30 to 16:30 with a duration of about 30-40 minutes and an interval of 30min. 

Chongqing North Station Entrance

Undoubtedly, flight is the fastest way to travel from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie. However, the flights usually operate only on peak seasons. Then, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, 1 flight would depart from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) at 6:50 and land in Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG) at 8:00.

Online tickets may be sold at 20% to 75% discount and it is better to book tickets in advance.

 How to Travel Zhangjiajie National Forest Park from Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport
Here are two options: take the city bus no. 4 to Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station for a direct bus to the forest park, taking 1.5-2 hours and CNY 15; or take a taxi / hail a DiDi car to the park directly with a duration of 30 minutes at a cost of CNY 80-100.

Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport Hall

 31 high speed trains run from Zhangjiajie West Railway Station to Chongqing East Railway Station, Chongqing West Railway Station, Chongqing North Railway Station or Jiangbei Airport Railway Station from 07:30 to 21:07 with departures almost every hour.

Zhangjiajie West Railway Station

 Zhangjiajie to Chongqing flights also operate only on peak seasons. There would be 1 flight every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and it departs from Hehua Airport at 12:45 and lands in Jiangbei Airport at 14:00.
