Xiamen Weather in November

The climate of Xiamen in November is pleasant, not cold yet. 

In the first half of the month, the high temperature in the daytime fluctuates between 24 - 28 degrees Celsius (75.2 - 82.4 degrees Fahrenheit). It’s cool in the shade; walking in the sunshine, you may sweat a little but will not feel very hot. At night, the temperature remains at 17 - 22℃ (62.6 - 71.6℉). Although the difference between day and night is not large from the data, the actual feeling is quite different. You have to add clothes in the face of cool evenings.

It gets cooler and cooler as time goes on. With frequent cold air waves in the second half of the month, the high temperature drops to 19 - 21℃ (66.2 - 69.8℉), and the day-night difference enlarges to around 10℃ (18℉). With blowing sea winds, the perceived temperature can be a little lower than the forecast shows.
November is one of the months with the least precipitation in Xiamen throughout the year, only 31 mm (1.2 in) on average from 4 rainy days. Even if you find it rainy from the forecast, it is very likely to be light rain or shower lasting for a short time that doesn’t affect your itinerary greatly. 

The air humidity averages a mild 70%. When cold air passes, it drops a little, but you don’t feel dry.
 It’s mostly sunny in November with the least cloud cover in a year. Therefore, the sunshine is abundant, about 6 hours per day on average. Although it is already autumn, the UV rays should not be underestimated. When engaging in outdoor activities for a long time, such as cycling along Island Ring Road or strolling on Gulangyu Island, it is still necessary to do sun protection.

Sunny Weather in Early November

The wind speed in November is often high. There are about 3 days seeing strong winds of level 8 or above, and affected by cold air, gusts of 7 - 9 levels often appear in the coastal areas. On these days, you may find it difficult even walking outdoors. Besides, ferry to Gulangyu Island may be out of service on huge wind days. Tourists are advised to focus on the early warning and avoid activities by the sea when strong wind blows. 
  At the beginning of the month: A T-shirt with light pants is still OK for traveling around in the warm sun. But in the morning and evening, additional denim shirt or jacket is required to cope with relatively lower temperatures.

 In mid to late the month: Long-sleeve T-shirt or denim shirt with jeans works well around noon, and women can also choose long-sleeve dress. At other times, you need to add a trench coat to resist the wind, particularly at the seaside. If you plan to get up early to watch the sunrise, a thick jacket is required.

 Shoes: Casual shoes or lightweight sneakers are advised. They don’t burden your feet during long-distance walking.

 Accessories: Sunglasses and sunscreen should be packed, considering the high UV index. A cap can help insulate your head from the wind.

2. The seawater in November is not warm anymore, and almost no one conducts water activities in the sea. But don’t be upset. You can experience sailing, cycle on Island Ring Road, or stroll along the beach instead.
