Day 2 Beijing
The Great Wall, Beijing
Being the capital of our nation for hundreds of years, Beijing is now the center of Chinese politics, economics and culture. The first stop of your journey is Tiananmen Square which is the symbol of our country. Thus there are hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world coming here everyday. The main buildings around the square are the Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao and the National Museum. The flag-raising ceremony held in every morning and the flag-guardian soldier are also the bright scenery on the square. Going through the Tiananmen Tower and then the Meridian Gate, you will enter the Forbidden City, the imperial palace for the last two feudal dynasties, Ming and Qing. About 2 hours walking is needed to finish the visiting of the halls and palaces on the central axis and reach the Gate of Divine Prowess. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven where the emperors offered the sacrifices to the heaven and preyed for good harvest.

Day 3 Beijing
Rickshaw riding during Hutong tour
In the morning, drive about 1.5 hours to the Mutianyu Great Wall. As the hike takes about 2 hours, a light package and a pair of comfortable shoes are recommended. We have included the round trip cable car for you. When reaching the top, we believe you will be feeling great and proud. No lunch is arranged as there are no decent dining places in the countryside. So we suggest you have a big breakfast in the morning at the hotel and bring some snacks with you. After a short rest for your brief lunch, we will take you to visit a renowned local market. One the way to the market, you will have a chance to take pictures of the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) and the Water Cube (National Aquatics Center).

Meals: Western buffet breakfast
Day 4 Beijing - Shanghai
Local retired people playing Tai-Chi
Today's morning will be spent in the Beijing Zoo and the most beautiful royal garden, Summer Palace. Unlike the solemnity of the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace is more comprehensive on the architectural styles and natural scenes. The surprise is coming every step of the way. The first stop in the afternoon is Lama Temple. Then you will take the medieval Chinese rickshaw to visit the old Hutong area, a distinctive living area of local people in the past. Before heading to the railway station to take the overnight train to Shanghai, you may buy something for your dinner and the breakfast of the next day. The food provided on the train is expensive, but with unsatisfying quality and taste. The soft sleeper carriage is divided into private compartments and each has 4 bunks in it. The space for luggage is limited, so please check the China train baggage allowance for reference. After boarding, the train attendant will collect the train tickets and give each passenger a plastic card instead. Then about 2 hours before reaching your destination, the tickets will be given back to you and you need to give the card back to the attendant. Wish you have a great night sleep on the train.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast
Accommodation: Overnight soft sleeper train

After arrival in the morning, we would like to transfer you to the hotel for refreshing and a short rest if the early check-in was available. The day activities begin with the famous Shanghai Museum. The precious collection covers almost every aspect of the Chinese nation and history and it will take about 2 hours to have a general visit. After that, you will be transferred to the Old Shanghai area and visit the elegant Yuyuan Garden. Then you will have leisure time wandering on the Bund and the Nanjing Road to see the prosperousness and modernization of the city. At the end, you will also visit a distinctive old street. Day 6 Departure from Shanghai
As you will need to get to the airport and catch the flight by yourself, we kindly remind you that the city has two airports, Pudong and Hongqiao. Please make sure from which airport your flight will take off. You may ask the hotel to call a taxi for you. It costs around CNY170.00 to Pudong Airport and CNY60.00 to Hongqiao airport. The driving takes about 1.5 hours to Pudong and 1 hour to Hongqiao. But we suggest you leave enough time in case there is traffic jam. Or you can take subway No.1 and then change to subway No.2 at the People's Square Stop to reach both of the airports. The subway entrance is just within walking distance from your hotel.
