Qingdao Hongdao Railway Station

Qingdao Hongdao Railway Station is linked to Qingdao Metro Line 8 and operates high speed trains to/from Shanghai, Jinan, Lianyungang and etc.  Passengers can go from this station to Jinan in only 3.5 hours, and to Shanghai in 5 hours. In addition, the station will soon begin serving normal-speed trains. 

Hongdao Train Station is located in Hongdong Economy District, about 40 kilometers (30 miles) from May Fourth Square in city center, 70 kilometers (40 miles) from Qingdao West Railway Station, 40 kilometers (30 miles) from Qingdao Railway Station, and 30 kilometers (20 miles) from Qingdao North Railway Station.

 Hongdao Railway Station is the largest railway station in Qingdao and the second largest railway station in Shandong Province, with a total area of 23,235 square meters. Plus, it's the first railway station in China with a sea view, embodying Qingdao's coastal character. 

The station building is an elevated structure with three above-ground levels and one underground level. The terminal buildings of the railway station look like “工” from its appearance. The north-south-oriented concourse spans 250 meters and is designed to accommodate a maximum of 5,000 passengers. 

-2F: metro line platform, which connects Line 8. In the future, it will link with line 10 and line 12. 
-1F: underground transfer hall and arrival hall. Passengers can take the Metro Line 8, cabs, or private vehicles here. 
1F: platform floor, where passengers take the train. There are 12 railway lines for high-speed trains and 6 platforms, and 8 railway lines for normal-speed trains and 4 platforms. 
2F: waiting hall area. 
 1. Accessible elevators are near Exit B – from ground level to the waiting hall area
2. Restrooms, nursing rooms and baby changing rooms are located near Exit B and at both ends of the waiting hall. 
3. There are no dining areas now, but passengers can find convenience stores and self-service kiosks where they can buy drinks and snacks. 
 1. Metro Line 8 links Hongdao Railway Station so that passengers can take it directly to the station. 
2. Take the bus no. 951, no. 945 and no. 940. 
3.  If you take a cab from the city center, it usually costs CNY 80-120 for about 40-60 minutes. 
 1. There is at least one pair of bullet trains between these two stations every day, which takes about 45 minutes. 
2. Passengers can take the metro line 8 to Qingdao Bei Station, then transfer to metro line 1 to Qingdao Station. 
3. It costs around CNY 120-140 if passengers take a cab. 
 1. Take the metro line 8 to Qingdao Bei Station, then transfer to the line 1 and directly arrive at the Liuting International Airport. 
2. It only takes about half an hour to reach the airport by taxi, costing CNY 80. 
 1. The most convenient way is to take the Metro Line 8, switch to Line 3 at Qingdao Bei Station, and get off at May Fourth Square Station. 
2. Taking a cab costs passengers about CNY 120 for nearly one hour to reach the city center. 
 1. Metro line 8 leads directly to the North Train Station. 
2. It takes half an hour to take a cab, for CNY 80. 
 Although Hongdao Railway Station is far from the city center, there are still famous scenic spots in the surrounding area, such as Qingdao Science Museum and Qingdao Fangte Wild Dreamland, which you can reach by taking Metro Line 8 for 4 stops. We recommend that visitors who are looking for family-friendly amusement parks or museums choose Hongdao Railway Station when booking train tickets.
