Does the ferry from HK to Zhuhai (and vice versa) run year-round?
Hello!

Our travel date on arrival will likely be mid-January 2019 and our return date will be in February 2019. Does the ferry run year-round?

Also, do we have to go through customs at HK International and THEN purchase our ferry tickets? What's the usual step-by-step? Our itinerary would be Toronto, Canada --> Hong Kong --> Zhuhai. Would we go through customs in HK, and then purchase ferry tickets and take the shuttle bus to the pier?

Thank you!

Yes, it runs all year round. Ferries to Mainland / Macao ticketing counter is located at transfer area E2, you need to check in before on board. You can check out HKIA website for more detailed information.

Stay at HK airport between ferry and flight?
I have a 10am flight to Japan and will need to take the last ferry from Zhuhai the evening before since there is no early morning ferry. Does this transfer system allow me to exit the secure airport area with my luggage to spend the night at an airport hotel and go through airline checkin the next morning?
Also can you use the Zhuhai-HK airport ferry regardless of the airlines (I’m on Air Japan).
Thanks in advance!

You can't use the ferry. The T&C of the HK airport & the ferry booking page clearly state that "3、For Sea-to-Air passenger by ferry from Pearl River Delta (PRD)/Macau Ports transiting Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to other destination by flight must check-in the flight at the SkyPier, HKIA NOT LESS THAN 120 minutes before the departure time. Passenger MUST hold valid flight ticket (same day as ferry ticket) and travel document with visa to destination."

You don't have a same-day ticket... You could consider either staying in Macao one night (they have early ferries) or go via the alternative ferry routes into HKG and taxi/bus/train to the airport hotel -- and hoping for no unrest along your way :-(

But yes, the ferry service is available for all airlines.

Thanks for your reply. The reason I ask is that the HK airport website also states that for flight departures times before 10:15 in the morning, passengers can use the last ferry the evening before. This is what I was planning to do. However, I want to be able to exit the secure area of the airport to go to a hotel and that is what I am not sure I am allowed to do. Any insights on that? Thanks much!
