Due to China’s 16th military parade for celebrating the National Day on October 1, 2019, the Forbidden City will close from September 21 to October 1, as well as other scenic spots near the Tian’anmen Square. Surrounding commercial areas will also be affected and traffic control will be implemented.

A lot of Chinese train stations plot E-tickets for high speed trains. Foreign passengers can board the trains just holding the passports used for booking. No paper tickets are needed anymore.

The Typhoon Lekima will land in China’s eastern cities including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou and Taizhou. A lot of trains and flights will stop and scenic areas will be closed temporarily. Travelers who plan to those cities should pay close attention to the weather forecast and transportation condition.

The Badaling Great Wall proclaimed to implement the real-name online ticketing system since June of 2019 and the daily quota of tourists has been limited to 65,000. It aims to provide a safer travel experience to travelers and better protect the Great Wall.

5G is becoming more and more popular in Chinese scenic areas and will have a big influence on China’s tourism industry. Its faster speeds, connections and access to network and various smart applications will definitely bring a reform to traditional tourist attractions.

The Notre Dame Cathedral de Paris caught a fire on April 15, 2019. Fortunately, the fire was put out on the second day. The main structure is still preserved but the roof had been damaged seriously. The Forbidden City held an emergency meeting about fire safety the next day.

Beijing Expo 2019 - the largest horticulture exhibition in history will be held from April 29 to October 7 and the 162-day exhibition attracts 110 countries and international organizations to participate in.

After Ethiopian air crash, China is the first country to announce grounding the Boeing 737 Max 8 planes for suspected safety defects. At present, more than 50 countries halt the planes and more damages may be caused to the air industry.

In 2018, China’s railway network expanded for 4,683 km (2,910 mi), including 4,100 km (2,550 mi) of high speed railways. The total railways in China have reached around 131,000 km (81,400 mi). The newly opened railways including Hangzhou - Huangshan, Harbin - Mudanjiang, Jinan - Qingdao contribute a lot to the 2019 Spring Festival Travel Rush. Also, there are some new railways to open in 2019.

On December 31, 2018, a wonderful performance in Xi’an was displayed to celebrate the New Year’s coming. In other cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, thousands of people gathered in popular places to welcome the New Year together.
