Xian East Railway Station
Xi’an East Railway Station, located in east suburb of Xi’an and about 15km (9.32 miels) away from the city center and expected to be put into use in June 2026, is an integrated transportation hub serving high speed trains, normal speed trains, subway trains, long-distance buses and more. After its operation, Xi’an will be a national railway hub operating high speed trains to all directions with an estimated annual passenger volume of 36.5 million.

With 13 platforms and 27 tracks, the station building of Xi’an East Railway Station covers an area of approximately 100,000 square meters (119,600 square yards), as large as 14 football fields. Three floors are constructed: the exit floor, the platform floor and the waiting floor from bottom to top. In addition, several mezzanine floors are designed.
East Railway Station will primarily handle the originating and terminating of the Xi’an-Wuhan High-Speed Railway which is scheduled to be fully in operation in June 2026, at which time the high-speed rail journey from Xi’an to Wuhan will be reduced from 5 hours to 2.5 hours.
It will also be responsible for the Xi’an - Chongqing High-Speed Railway and then the rail travel time to Chengdu and Chongqing will be shortened from 4-6 hours to 3 hours only.
Furthermore, the high-speed rail journey from Xi’an to Kunming will be shortened from 11 hours to 5 hours, and the travel time to coastal and gateway cities in the south like Guangzhou and Shenzhen, will be reduced from 8-9 hours to 6-7 hours.
Xi’an East Train Station will also handle trains running along the Xi’an-Yan’an High-Speed Railway which is connected to the further north railways to Beijing, Baotou, and Hohhot.
Passengers can quickly travel between Xi’an East Railway Station and Xi’an North Railway Station via the rail link line, with an estimated travel time of about 20 minutes. After arriving at North Railway Station, it’s convenient to transfer to Metro Line 14 to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport.
The East Railway Station will be connected with Xi’an metro line 5 after its operation in 2026 and line 12, line 15, and line 21 in the future stage by stage. The four lines will share a large subway station hall, allowing for effortless transfers between different lines.
Developed bus route network will be planned around East Railway Station to facilitate passengers’ travel to every corner of the city.
The coach station is set to regulate buses to neighboring counties and suburban areas. And direct buses to the Terracotta Army would also be running for tourists.
