If you have to stay at Beijing Capital International Airport for a period of time, it is necessary to learn some things to do in this Beijing airport. As a great modern airport, Capital Airport is equipped with complete facilities and provides excellent services. Here are some recommended things to do in Beijing Airport during the layover.

1. Go Shopping

With about 140 shops in total in the terminals, there are various things to buy at Beijing airport such as clothes, accessories, books, drugs, art crafts, beauty products and so on. Also there are several convenience stores like Family Mart for daily products and specialty stores. If you plan to buy some gifts for friends, the authentic local food like Quanjude Roast Duck and Daoxiangcun Pastries, Chinese featured staff like silk and tea are all highly recommended. The 35 Duty Free shops are definitely worth visiting which include brands like Dior, LANCOME, LA MER, BVLGARI, GUCCI, Tiffany, etc. All these shops are located on the first or second floor in the isolation area of terminal 2 and 3E.

2. Taste Local Food

With more than 100 restaurants in the terminals, Capital Airport provides various foods to meet the demand of diversified passengers. Some characteristic Chinese food like dumplings, beef noodles, Tianjin Goubuli Steamed Buns and famous Sichuan dishes Bang Bang Chicken are all available. Western restaurants like Wagas and Gino Cafe and fast food restaurants including KFC, Mc Donald’s and Burger King can be found also. Besides, there are restaurants offering dishes from Japan, Korean and Southeast Asia. If you just wanna some simple tea cakes, go to cafes like Starbucks and Pacific Coffee to have a cup of coffee or taste some desserts. 

3. Have a Good Rest

To name a few: close to Boarding Gates 36-39 is the T2 Resting Lounge where passengers can see the operation of the airplanes; Oasis with electricity recharging equipment, TV-watching area, and sofas is in the Transfer Hall on the first floor of T2; in T3, Tulip Lounge next to Boarding Gate C30 is equipped with chairs, electricity recharging zone, vending machine, and juicer.

In Capital Airport, the free WIFI called AIRPORT-FREE-WIFI-NEW has covered all the areas. After getting codes from the dispenser with passports, passengers can log in and then watch the movies, read books or play games as you like.

5. Make a Layover Tour to Beijing

If you have more than 7 hours for the layover, you may be interested in things to do near Beijing Airport. For transit passengers from 53 countries or regions, Beijing has granted the 144-hour visa-free transit and you can head to downtown for a visit. The traffic between Capital Airport and downtown is quite convenient. Both airport shuttle buses and airport express train run at a regular basis. The journey to Forbidden City and Tian’anmen Square takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes and CNY 30/person. And the nearest 798 Art District which combines galleries, art centers, bars and catering can be reached in an hour. But if you are planned to visit Great Wall in suburb or want a hassle-free trip, a package tour is suggested.
