Day 1 Arrival in Beijing
Sincere greetings & airport-hotel transfer.
Upon landing at Beijing International Airport, please claim your luggage and clear customs. Our experienced tour guide will be waiting for you outside the customs area, holding a board with TravelChinaGuide logo and your name. After a warm greeting, you will be transferred to the specially selected hotel in our private car and our guide will also help you with the check-in procedures. 

The rest of the day is free for you to get recovered from the Jet-lag. But if you are still energetic, our guide will be glad to accompany you to get the first impression of the city.

Day 2 Beijing

After breakfast, this 13 days China tour package starts with the Tiananmen Square, the city's largest central square. Then go north to enter the Forbidden City, the biggest palace complex in the world, where you will appreciate millions of precious cultural relics and resplendent imperial palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368 - 1911). Later, a visit to the royal garden Jingshan Park enables you to have a panoramic view of the Palace Museum. The best shooting point requires a 15-minute around walk up the hilltop. You will then enjoy the authentic Chinese food at a famous restaurant (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price). Our guide will offer recommendations based on your taste and help you order from the a la carte menu. 

In the afternoon, you will take a pedicab ride passing through Hutongs - intricate winding alleys scattered around the old blocks of Beijing. There lines a lot of Chinese traditional quadrangle courtyards with caesious brick walls and fresh red gates, which revels a strong classic tone of the old Beijing.

Day 3 Beijing

After breakfast, we will take a private transfer to the Temple of Heaven. There you will not only have a nice glimpse of ancient China's sacrificial buildings, but also see many locals doing Tai Chi, singing Beijing operas and having ballroom dances as their morning exercise activities. If you are interested, just join and have fun with them together. Later, we will get into the car and head for the Mutianyu section of Great Wall in about 2.5 hours. Lunch is not included today, but our guide is willing to give you some recommendations on restaurant choice. 

Once arrive, you will take a cableway up to the Mutianyu Great Wall and hike along the amazing part to enjoy this great wonder. The round-trip cableway is included, but you could also take the slideway down instead, if you are adventurous. Please inform your guide in advance if you want to try it. After finishing the sightseeing, you will be transferred back to the hotel.

Day 4 Beijing - Xian

This morning, you will visit the Summer Palace and have a short boat ride along the Kunming Lake. Topping the Chinese classical gardens, this well-preserved royal garden mainly consists of Longevity Hill full of grand and graceful buildings, and Kunming Lake with gorgeous natural scenery, and both of them are constructed harmoniously with their surroundings. Lunch is at your own expense and our guide will give you some advice. 

Afterwards, we will transfer you to the railway station to catch the high-speed train to Xian. The train journey takes around 5.5 hours and we will arrange the comfortable and economical Second Class Seat. If you want to upgrade to First Class Seat, or prefer to travel by plane, please contact your tour consultant beforehand. It's our pleasure to do the change for you.

Upon arrival at Xian North Railway Station, you will see your tour guide and driver greeting you outside the exit, and then be escorted to the hotel for check in.

Day 5 Xian

Today's Xian private tour starts with a visit to the Terracotta Army Museum after about one hour car ride. This is the largest underground military museum including thousands of lifelike terracotta warriors and horses arranged into military formations orderly. After that, we will drive back to downtown city and have a taste of homemade cooking in a local family home. You will get to know more about the general Chinese people's daily life after talking with the host with the guide's help. Besides, you can learn how to cook Chinese food or make dumplings from the hostess, but you should inform your tour consultant in advance about that.

After lunch, our guide will lead you to go for a stroll along the Xian City Wall, one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. Encircling the rectangle city center, it has stood there for over 600 years. Apart from walking, you can also experience cycling on the wide City Wall, but the rental fee is at your own expense.

Day 6 Xian - Lhasa

After breakfast, we will take you to the airport for a morning flight to Lhasa. After about 3.5 hours aviation trip, you will reach the 3,600-meter (11,811-feet) high Lhasa Gonggar Airport and meet the guide of this China golden triangle tour with Tibet and Chengdu. And then you will be escorted to the hotel for check-in. En route, you can catch a glance at the surging Yarlung Tsangpo River from the car window. To acclimatize the high altitude, you are advised to stay in the hotel for a good rest and avoid the strenuous exercises such as running and jumping.

Day 7 Lhasa

This morning, you will see the enormous Potala Palace. Renowned as the bright pearl of the lofty plateau, and the holy land of Tibetan Buddhism, this landmark palace with magnificence and grandness is must-see when making a trip to Tibet. It has been decorated resplendently and colorfully for symbolizing the Buddhism and noble faiths, and also full of countless precious cultural relics of frescos and treasures inside.

After lunch, the guide will show you the Jokhang Temple, encircled by the bustling Barkhor Street, where you can get to know the minority folk custom. Later, you will take a look at a nunnery named Canggu Temple with a history of more than 500 years.

Day 8 Lhasa
Norbulingka Park, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery. (B+L)
Today's first stop is the bright-colored Norbulingka, the largest Tibetan garden in this area, which was served as the summer palace for the seventh Dalai Lama and the successors. Then you will be guided to tour the Drepung Monastery, a large complex with many white buildings scattered against the hillside, looking like a great heap of rice from a distance. 

After lunch, there is an unmissable debate about Buddhist doctrines inside the famous Sera Monastery awaits you. Besides the lively and interesting debate, you can also have a look at the thousands of figures of Buddha and many valuable chromatic mural works at this distinctive monastery.

Day 9 Lhasa - Chengdu

After breakfast, you will visit the Tibet Museum, which tells the historical changes and gloriousness of Tibet by showing those rare heritages including Buddha statues, ancient texts, porcelains and jade wares on display. Lunch is at your own expense. 

In the afternoon, you will be taken to the airport and this 13 days China tour itinerary turns to Chengdu. The flight journey takes 2 hours and 40 minutes. After landing, your Chengdu tour guide will meet you and transfer you to the downtown hotel in our private vehicle. After checking into the hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the city.

Day 10 Chengdu

You will spend the whole day volunteering to care for the giant pandas in Dujiangyan Panda Base, which is about 1.5-hour car ride from the city center. Accompanied by our guide, you will start the volunteer job and have a close contact with the lovely giant pandas in the base. You will feed the pandas, clean their houses, watch the panda movies and make desserts with cute panda patterns. As the volunteer, today you will have lunch with the staff in the dining hall.

 Friendly Tips

There is a donation program in the Dujiangyan Panda Base providing an opportunity for visitors to take photos with a giant panda. It costs CNY1800 (USD280) per person. If you are interested, please notify your tour consultant in advance and we will make an appointment for you before the tour. You only need to pay for it over there. 
Day 11 Chengdu - Shanghai

In the morning, we will take you to Chengdu People's Park. Like parks in many other Chinese cities, locals do morning exercises, Tai Chi and dance. What makes this park in Chengdu unique are the teahouses and mahjong parlors. Chengdu people enjoy getting together, drinking tea, chatting and playing mahjong. We will arrange for you a teahouse and you can experience the real Chengdu people's daily life. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the Wide and Narrow Alley. Mainly composed of three paralleled alleys, this antique attraction has a crowd of courtyards along the Hutong-like streets. Today's lunch will be arranged in a special restaurant in the alley to taste the authentic Sichuan cuisine. 

After that, our guide will escort you to the airport and see you off. After 2 hours flight travel, you will meet your Shanghai tour guide and get helped to check into the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you.

Day 12 Shanghai

The first stop of today's private Shanghai tour is Shanghai Museum. Nearly one million pieces of historical relics from different dynasties gathered here. The exquisite bronze wares, antique calligraphy works and paintings are the special treasures of the museum. And then follows the Yuyuan Garden, a classical Chinese garden, where you will see the great rockery, well-designed halls and delicate pavilions. Outside the garden, there is a bustling old street, and you can find various handcrafts and specialty snacks there. After that, have an a la carte lunch at a local restaurant to enjoy the delicious Shanghai cuisine (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price). 

After lunch, go to the 100th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Center to see the skyline of the city. Walking along the 474 meters (1,555 feet) high sightseeing corridor with transparent floorboard will bring you strong feelings of excitement and amusement. At last, we will guide you to the Bund. Located in the shore of Huangpu River, the Bund is known as the museum of international architecture because a total of 52 exotic buildings tower over the bank. You can also catch sight of many skyscrapers including Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Lujiazui area and Shanghai Tower on the other bank of the river.

Day 13 Departure from Shanghai

After breakfast, we will set out for the picturesque Zhujiajiao Ancient Town. Having a boat trip to admire the limpid water flowing beneath ancient bridges and the waterside dwellings is the best way to tour around this old town. Lunch is at your own expense and you can choose a featured restaurant under your guide's help.

This 13 days China golden triangle tour with Tibet and Chengdu will draw to an end at this moment. After that, our guide and driver will escort you to the airport for your departure flight. We wish you a nice journey home!
