 The weather of Huangshan in July is the hottest all year round, and its average temperature is roughly from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius (77 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit). In this month, the highest temperature exceeds 30°C (86°F) almost every day, and sometimes can reach 37°C (99°F). Even if a temperature drop happens, the lowest temperature basically won’t be under 25°C (77°F), so it’s suitable to arrange night tour activities if it doesn’t rain.
 With the precipitation of about 241 mm, Huangshan in July is the wettest in a year. In the first half of this month, Huangshan is still in its plum rain season, when it may rain for consecutive days and thunderstorms can happen. Such weather circumstances more or less bring inconvenience to people’s sightseeing. In the second half of July, both the number of rainy days and the intensity of rain significantly decrease.

It should be emphasized that the average humidity of Huangshan in July is high around 78%, which means you’re likely to feel muggy, especially when it’s about to rain.
 Daytime of Huangshan in July gradually shortens from about 14.5 to 14 hours, and the longest day starts at around 04:51 and ends at around 19:20 on July 1. The UV index is 7, which is the highest in a year, and strong UV rays can cause sunburn.
 It’s not suggested to take a tour to Huangshan in hot and wet July. In high temperature, people easily feel tired in outdoor activities, and heavy rain is an unfavorable factor for enjoying natural views. Moreover, as summer holidays of Chinese schools begin in this month, more local visitors choose to travel around, leading to crowded attractions and the increase in hotel room prices.

But if you have decided to travel to Huangshan in July, 2026, it’s more suggested to schedule your tour on weekdays after the plum rain season and avoid sightseeing around scorching and sunbaked noon.
  For touring around the city area: Quick-dry T-shirt, shorts, dresses, and a sun-protective jacket. For shoes, opt for non-slippery sandals or breathable sneakers.

 For climbing the Huangshan Mountain: As for tops, wear a quick-dry short-sleeved shirt and an outdoor jacket. For bottoms, thin long pants help block UV rays and mosquitoes. Besides, wear hiking shoes for a stable climb.

 Requisites: Sunglasses, mosquito repellent, a portable fan, and rain gear.
 1. Massive Pine Trees and Variously-shaped Rocks on Huangshan Mountain
In consideration of the temperature difference between the mountain area and the downtown area, Huangshan Mountain becomes a good place to escape summer heat. On clear days, gentle breeze makes the climbing process cool, and you have better visibility to view the Welcome Pine and the rock in the shape of an immortal pointing his finger toward the sky.

2. Lotus Flowers and Fish Lantern Show in Chengkan Village
July is the blooming season of lotus flowers in the lake in Chengkan Village, and the delicate pink flowers and lush green leaves, together with blue sky on sunny days, are the best photo background. When night falls, even more impressive fish lantern and firework shows are presented.

Tip: No safety guardrail is constructed around the lake in Chengkan, so you need to be careful in case of any accident, especially when you are watching the performance at night.

3. Admire Local Traditional Buildings in Hongcun Ancient Village
Slightly rainy days seem to be more suitable than sunny ones for you to admire quaint buildings in Hongcun Village. Mist before the rain shrouds the buildings with black tiles, and all the village is in a serene charm. After the rain, coolness and fresh air are the best gifts.
