In general, Huangshan weather in February is cold but not freezing, with the average temperature ranging from about 3 to 10 degrees Celsius (37 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit). In this month, the climate here is affected by the frigid northwest monsoon, and Huangshan thus experiences temperature decreases, with the lowest temperature of around -1°C (30°F). In late February, if the weather is clear, the temperature may increase to about 23°C (73°F), suitable for traveling around.

Precipitation of Huangshan in February totals about 113 mm, and comes in multiple forms. Throughout the whole month, there are approximately 9 precipitation days. The northwest monsoon further has an impact on Huangshan’s precipitation, and there may be consecutive snowy days. You need to further note that in the high humidity of around 75%, the weather is even colder when it’s rainy or snowy. By the way, flag stone roads in villages are a little slippery after rain, and in Huangshan Mountain, paths covered by snow are likely to be icy in low temperature.

In consideration of the bad weather conditions, most tourists won’t choose to travel to Huangshan in February, thus making this month the slack season here. So snow scenery viewers can have a tranquil tour at a relatively low cost.

 Warm clothes: If your itinerary doesn’t include the Huangshan Mountain, wear thermal underwear, a sweater, and a cotton jacket as your tops. For your bottoms, thermal leggings and thick outer pants are suggested. To climb the mountain warmly, wear a quick-dry thermal underwear, a lightweight down vest, and a windproof interchange jacket as your tops. As for bottoms, quick-dry thermal leggings together with winter hiking pants are the best.

 Non-slippery shoes: Sneakers or leather boots are suitable for regular sightseeing, and climbing shoes / snow boots are good choices for climbing the mountain.

Requisites: Rain gear such as an umbrella or a raincoat.

 Note: In this month, people have to dress thickly enough to keep warm. It’s not suggested to bring too many items of little use. Just try to travel light for a relaxed and comfortable tour.

Huangshan Mountain in February is famous for its peaceful and sparkling snow scenery on rocks and trees. Another unmissable view is rime, which clings to tree branches and looks glittering under brilliant sunshine.

2. Delicate Plum Blossoms in Shexian County

From mid-February on, vast areas of plum blossoms in Shexian County come into their prime. Standing on the viewing platform, you will be amazed by the attractive scene composed of pink plum blossoms, greyish-white traditional residences in the valley, and lush green hillsides.
