Shanghai - Hangzhou High Speed Railway Line: Starting to be operated since October 26th, 2010, the high speed railway line is a part along Shanghai - Kunming High Speed Railway Line with the total distance of 2,252 kilometers (1,399 miles) and top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). Along the way, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Hangzhou East Railway Station are the major railway stations.

Hangzhou - Ningbo High Speed Railway Line: This railway line, opened on July 1st, 2013, is a section of Nanjing - Hangzhou - Ningbo High Speed Railway Line. The railway line has a length of 150 kilometers (93 miles) and major railway stations along the route are: Hangzhou South, Shaoxing North, Shaoxing East and Zhuangqiao.

How can I buy ticket for round trip Shanghai - Ningbo?

What is the price for round trip?

For round trip, you can input both "trip 1" and "trip 2" together for round trip schedule. After you choose train and seat class for both trips, you can input passenger and contact information and submit the booking online. There is no any discount offered for round trip, the price will be doubled on one way ticket.

Can i book in advance?

I will be reaching Shanghai on June 10 and want to travel to Ningbo on June 13th. Can i book online or make an advance booking when i reach Hongqiao Railway Station?

Both ways are workable. There are around 50 high speed rides a day from Hongqiao to Ningbo. So it should not be a problem to get a ticket on the day. Or you can do it at station days in advance too if your time allows. If you want to guarantee a ticket early in advance, you can choose to book online in advance.

Yes, no problem. In fact you can buy the ticket at any railway station in mainland. It does not have to be the departure city. No extra fee.

I want to go to Mt Putuo from Shanghai

I know there is no direct train. I will need to go to Ningbo first. But after that, is there any one knows how to reach Putuo from Ningbo Railway Station? Thank you

There is a long distance bus station near Ningbo Railway Station. From there, you can take a long distance bus to Shenjiamen bus station. Then you can take a bus or taxi to Banshengdong or Zhujiajian Port and finally go to Putuo Mountain by ferry.

If you will take high speed ride, the rides would depart from Hongqiao Railway Station. You can take metro line 2 or airport shuttle bus to reach Hongqiao Station. If you want to go by normal type, you would need to go to South Station which is also reachable by airport shuttle bus.
