Ningbo Railway Station

Ningbo Railway Station is the main railway station in the city whose history can be dated back to the year of 1959. It is about 2 miles (3 kilometers) to Tianyi Square (city center), 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) to Tianyi Pavilion and 6.8 miles (11 miles) to Ningbo Lishe International Airport. The station is also called South Railway Station by local residents as it is located outside of the south gate of the city. To meet the increasing demands from passengers, the station has undergone a reconstruction since 2010 and was put into use again on December 23rd, 2013. As an important railway hub, it has trains to/from Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Wuhan, and Fuzhou, etc.

The station is mainly made up of three parts: South Square, North Square and the main building.

The South Square is the main transportation hub so far. There are stops for city buses and parking lots for private vehicles in its center; city bus stops, taxi stands, and parking lots for private vehicles in its southwest; and taxi stands and parking lots at its basement. In addition, the long-distance bus station to the south of this square is under construction and will be put into use soon.

The North Square is still under construction and it is scheduled to be put into use by end of 2015. Subway exits/entrances of line 2 and line 4 are planned at this square.

The main building consists of six floors, three above ground and three underground. Here below is a list of its major structure and facilities:

 How to get to other sites from the railway station:
 To Tianyi Square: Take bus 518 to Dongmenkou, get off and walk southwest for about 300 yards to get there,
 To Tianyi Pavilion: Take bus 26 to Tianyi Pavilion and one will see its entrance;
To North Long-Distance Bus Station: Take bus 380 to Yijiang New Village, and then walk westward for about 750 yard to get there;
 To Airport: Take airport shuttle buses to get there directly. The buses depart from the parking lots for private buses at the south square. They are available at 08:20, 09:00, 09:20, 10:00, 10:20, 11:00, 11:20, 12:00, 12:20, 13:00, 13:20, 14:00, 14:20, 15:00, 15:20, 16:00, 16:20, 17:00, 17:20, 18:00, 18:20, 19:00, and 19:20. Ticket fare is CNY12 and duration is about 30 minutes.
