How to Travel between Beijing and Tianjin

Flight is not available between Beijing and Tianjin as they are only about 135km (84mi) apart. The major modes of transportation between the two cities are the 30-50 minutes’ intercity high speed trains, the 2 hours’ long-distance bus, and the 1.5 hours’ taxi ride. Passengers with mobile internet connection can also reserve a private car through the online car-hailing app “DiDi”. Cruise transfer is expected to serve by 2020.

 Car-Hailing App “DiDi”: 1.5-2 hours, about CNY500


This way requires mobile internet access. Passengers need to download DiDi app, then call a private car. Although the app has English version, speaking some simple Chinese sentences will help a lot, because it usually is necessary to communicate with the driver about the exact pick-up point. No cash is accepted and the online payment can be done by Wechat Pay, Alipay or Apple Pay.
 
 

How to Get to Tianjin from Beijing Capital Airport (PEK)


1. Capital Airport Intercity Bus: 2.5 hours, CNY 82

2. Airport-Downtown Shuttle Bus + Bullet Train: 2-2.5 hours, CNY 85-90
Take shuttle bus line 2 from Capital Airport to Beijing South Railway Station in 70-80 minutes at a cost of CNY30. It serves from 07:00 to 24:00 with the frequency of half an hour. Then catch a high speed train to Tianjin in 30-50 minutes.


3. Airport Express Train + Subway + Bullet Train: 2 hours, CNY 85-90
Take Airport Express Train to Dongzhimen first. Enter the station of subway line 2 and buy a ticket to South Railway Station, and a transfer to subway line 4 at Xuanwumen is needed. It takes around an hour and costs CNY30/person. Go to Tianjin by high speed train afterwards.

→ To travel from Tianjin Railway Station to Tianjin Airport, one can use subway line 2: 25min, CNY3. Or take a taxi costing CNY40-50 to reach the airport within 25min.


4. Taxi: 1.5-2 hours, CNY 500
Passengers who arrive in late night or at dawn and want to go to Tianjin may consider taking a taxi. Official taxis can be found at:

 Go to South Railway Station to take a high speed train to Tianjin:

1. Airport shuttle Gongzhufen Line to South Railway Station: 07:00 – 19:00 every an hour, 25min, CNY 15

2. → Bus 501 to East Gate of Jiayuan Erli: 05:15 – 21:30; CNY2
 → Walk to Jiaomen West and take subway line 4 to South Railway Station: 05:10 – 23:10; CNY3

 Take a taxi to Xianglong Zhaogongkou Bus Station in 20min. The fare is about CNY30. Then you can buy a ticket and catch a bus to Tianjin. It takes 2h and costs CNY40.

Upon landing, you can take airport shuttle bus to get to Tianjin Tianhuan Coach Station first. Then take a taxi to the cruise terminal.

The coach bus between these two places costs CNY35/person. The departure times are 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 17:00, 19:00 to Bawangfen Station.

Yes, you can easily find public bus no.513 to Civil Square Station. Then take metro line 9 to TJ Railway Station. After arriving, there are pairs of bullet trains that can take you to Beijing.

Tianjin cruise port to Beijing centre
Am i right in saying taxi from Tianjin port terminal to Tianjin train station then Bullet train to Beijing South is quite easy to travel speaking only English ? Is it easier to book taxi before arriving in port ? Can we buy return tickets on the Train ? Can we turn up to the railway station without booking ? Does the metro highlight tourist places of interest so you know where to get off? Can we buy a daily metro pass ? Which places can anyone suggest should be done first day ? How can we get to the wall on day Two from port or Beijing south railway station ?

1. Well, as I know, the staff can speak simple English. Thus maybe it won't be that difficulty to communicate.
2. Yes, you can ask help for the staff and easily book a taxi before you arriving at the port.
3. You can also purchase the return train.
4. You are advised to book the train tickets in advance.
5. The metro line 3 passes Five Great Avenues and Radio & Television Tower, Water Park.
6. You can purchase the one day metro transportation card.
7. In Beijing, you can tour around Tian'anmen Square, Summer Palace, Wangfujing Street and Temple of Heaven.
8. Do you refer to Great Wall? If yes, take Badaling Great Wall as an example, take subway line 4 to Xuanwumen, change to line 2 to Jishuitan, go out Exit B2 and walk to Deshengmen to take bus 877.

You suggested taking the bus 513 from the cruise terminal to Tianjin Civil Square
then the #9 to the bullet train, I can't get Civil Square to show up in my transit app, is it known by any other name?
