 In September, Beijing finally says goodbye to the sultry summer and enters autumn. At this time, the temperature is very favorable, neither hot nor cold most of the time. Specifically, at the beginning of the month, daytime temperature fluctuates around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), so you generally don’t feel very hot; nighttime temperature is around 20 - 25°C (68 - 77°F), which is very comfortable. From the middle of the month, it’s basically cool throughout the day: daytime temperature rarely exceeds 28°C (82°F) and nighttime temperature is generally below 20°C (68°F). 

It should be noted that there is a big temperature gap between day and night, especially at the end of the month, so be sure to keep an eye on the weather forecast and add clothes accordingly.
 September does not have much rain. On average, there is only 46 mm of rainfall scattered in about 8 rainy days. Moreover, Beijing mainly experiences showers this month, which are usually brief and stop quickly. In other words, even on rainy days, you may still have a chance to go out for a trip. However, once it rains, the temperature will drop, and a thin jacket is needed.

Most attractions haven’t shortened their daily opening hours yet this month. The UV rays are no longer as strong as in summer, but you are still recommended totake sun protection measures on sunny days.

 Generally speaking, the average temperature is from 15 - 26°C (59 - 79°F), and the lowest temperature this month is no less than 10°C (50°F) according to the historical data. Therefore, traveling to Beijing this month, you will feel neither hot nor cold. Besides, with low rainfall, the sky is sunny and clear most of the time.

This perfect climate of Beijing in September makes it ideal for visiting the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven to admire the historical buildings, hiking to the Great Wall where the surrounding trees are still lush and green, going to the Old Summer Palace with various colorful chrysanthemums in full blossom, and strolling through Hutongs to experience Beijing’s local culture… In September, the number of tourists in Beijing is much less than in the just passed summer vacation of July and August. It will be less crowded at those famous scenic spots. At the same time, the travel cost will be relatively lower, mainly in terms of hotel expenses and airfare.

Note that at the end of the month, Beijing once again enters its crowded peak time. Because the National Day holidays usually fall in early October, and tourists arrive in Beijing at the end of September to start their holiday trip.
